He is likely A-OK but I have uneasy concern for DPCer Noel_ZH. He is best known here for this fine 7.75 image taken on Lake Geneva in Switzerland:

Noel lives in the Bahamas now and we email occasionally about photography. I last heard from him yesterday when he shared a beautiful photograph taken just before his ironic namesake storm, Hurricane Noel, became a full fledged hurricane and struck the Bahamas.

I answered and thought I might get a quick response. I have not heard so far. After reading that this storm has already killed 115 people and has dropping 15 inches of rain on the Bahamas I became concerned.

With the recent California fires and strong storms that struck near Judi in Australia it makes one feel uneasy.

I'm sure it is nothing but if anyone has heard anything or Noel himself could comment here about his experience it would be nice to know you are all right and still taking pictures. :)

Site Council spoke with him via tickets at this time: Nov. 1st 2007 06:00 PM (server time)

I don't know if that is later than you spoke with him, but I hope he is well!

Likely the island is without power. I hope all is well too!

I heard from him earlier than that so this is good news. I'm probably just hypersensitive but still remain concerned.

I have to apologize to you for not writing back earlier. I had some more pictures to show you from the storm (check your email ;) ) which I wanted to show you before writing back, but given the situation I should have done so earlier, quite incosiderate of me, again I'm sorry about this Steve. You're a class guy for thinking about me and making sure everything is alright though.. thank you for your concern.

The storm passed with little to no action on my side, just some offline'ness. But not too far away some of the islands got severe flooding and damage, one younger child lost his life through drowning :/

Thanks again for checking in Steve.. and my sincere apologies for giving you legitimate grounds for being worried.

Noel... no apologies necessary... I'm the schitzo paranoid one here. :) Guess I'd rather be a concerned fool than an unperturbed intellectual.

Never mind, everyone... red flag lowered. ;) ;)

It's just a shame that there's no camaraderie and concern for one another around here!......8>)

Glad to hear you weathered the hurricane, Noel.

Been there, done that.....don't wanna EVER again!
