Roy Popkin, a friend of mine, has left public service in the U.S. after two long careers: 42 years at the Red Cross, rising to Deputy National Director for Disaster Services, and then 23 more years at the Environmental Protection Agency.
Our Deputy Administrator blogged about Roy today, and it would really be nice if we could bury the post in positive comments. You'll see two quotes from Roy that sum up his humble dedication to public service, and I can attest to them being legit - he said them during our going-away party for him.

Err ... I should mention that comments are reviewed for posting, which in this case just means they won't appear until tomorrow morning, eastern US time. Not edited, just screened for profanity, personal attacks, etc. per the commenting policy on the site.
