Sherryl, I was out in the woods today for work and couldn't quit snapping photos of all the neat textures I kept seeing....I hope you don't mind me posting all these here for my day 1. If so, just let me know and I'll remove them. I haven't participated in many side challenges so I didn't know if this was bad form or not! I don't expect comments....
If anyone wants to use these just send me a PM and I'll send the full size versions..
Clouds,Ashpalt, truck toolbox, leaves and pine straw

leaves, loblolly pine, sand, light pole

I also snapped some pictures of tree bark for textures, so here is what I have so far:
Water Oak,Willow Oak, Blackjack Oak, Chinaberry, Choke Cherry

Green Ash, Hackberry, Loblolly Pine, Magnolia, Pear

Redbud, Red Maple, Sassafras, Sweetgum, Walnut

Winged Elm, Yellow Poplar

Wow I am over come with this amazing magical TEXTURS everywhere on this page.
Totally blown away and thats the sort of really getting your teeth into a project, and finding some amazing textures to share with us. I do not mind at all that you shared so many all at once, but it will be hard for you to find more, but thats ok.
I like to see you develope some as overlays when you can. Maybe when you take some more put them in your workfolder and share a couple each day with us.
Please do not remove these as they are really interesting, and really do brighten our thread. I look forward to commenting on as many as I can later today. Keep up the great work, but maybe slow down just a little. Jason jasonlprice you have totally blown me away with this Texture collectiom. Well done mate.

Thanks! I did give a go at an overlay and I thought it turned out pretty good for me first try...I've uploaded it to the overlay challenge thread.
I'll try to slow down a bit, but there are so many neat textures everywhere! Besides, there a lots more trees to shoot! I can't wait until I can shoot again! This is really an awesome side challenge and thanks again for setting it up and administrating it.

Its fabric simulating leopard skin copied and pasted 4 times for simetry.
After comments...
took a shot of the whole surface this time. A lot less light on it. Tell me what you think

Thanks! Usually desperation shots look just like that. I took the camera into the kitchen turned water over a plate and quickly took a few shots with flash before dashing off to work. I was amazed this evening to find the shots actually looked interesting!! I did drastically shift colors using CapureNX to get the intense blues.

I really like the texture with the metal balls. The cloud formation texture is really nice. The wood bark comparisons are interesting. Someone must really know trees. I also really like the texture on the trunk. |

I definately do not want to stop you photographing textures as thats what this side challenge is all about. Just don't get burned out on us, as we are enjoying all your images.
You remind me of myself, and my love of textures and macros, as I ise to be just like you. Full on, and really enjoyed what I was doing. My body has made me slow down now, and spend more time on processing skills. Keep those wonderful TEXTURES coming Jason.

I am just so pleased how everyone is working together on this side challenge, and sharing ideas and skills with each other. Thanks heaps as it means a lot to me that you are enjoying this side challenge.
Now of to process todays image for you...... Don't go to far away..... I will be back to do some commenting.
Please note; I am allowing anyone to use most of my textures, but they must contact me first, for permission, and I will then send them to them, via email.
You may like to do the same. Maybe if your interested in this, we could do up a list of those prepared to allow use of some of there textures for overlays. Please let me know. Thanks heaps.
