DEEPLY SADDENED
How many men, (ok, some ladies too, donât want to discriminate, LOL) would turn down the opportunity to photograph the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders? Well, that is what I had to do this morning. The Exchange (Store) on my base was just recently remodeled and they are going to be having a âGrand Openingâ ceremony in which the Cheerleaders were to be in attendance as part of the ceremony. As it would turn out, I will not be in the area and had to PRY the words, âSorry, I will be unavailable at that time!â out of my mouth.
Just being offered the job was enough to send my jaw slamming into the floor! That makes me happy, but then, sad because I can not do it. I know this may not seem like a big deal to some, but for me it would have made one hell of a Feather in my Cap.
Really, how often do you get the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders thrown into your lap?
Isnât this where I should break out some âComfortâ food and eat away my sorrows? LOL

Thanks for the *Man Hug* it is such a sad state of affairs, to be sure! I keep having visuals in my head of Skimpy, Tight-Fitting Blue and White Uniforms jumping and bouncing around. I have to say, I am pretty sure those visuals will turn into Nightmares which will cause me many sleepless nights! |

I have a wife, so I suppose I technically dont need a Girlfriend or a toy. However, having a girlfriend would end up making the wife go away LOL.
I will be heading down to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island to attend my sons Graduation. I am currently still on active duty with 25 years in. Cant tell you how proud I am of him for following in my footsteps. He will be the 3rd Generation Marine. Both of his Grandfathers were Marines as well. Nothing, not even Cheerleaders can keep me from attending his Graduation. |

THAT is hard-'corps' ;)
Congratulations sir, for honoring both yourself AND your son by your actions. As a veteran (and a father), I have to respect a man willing to do what you're doing.
As a man who likes the 'hotties' as much as anyone, I'd say your wife should be making this up to you!!!
Tell ya what - how 'bout a pic of the red white & blue for ya?

This should cheer you up:
circa 1983
If it's any consolation, those particular cheerleaders are probably in a nursing home now. ...oh wait-- Doh!
ps - My (ex)wife wasn't thrilled with these pics either. :/ |

Noone has asked the important questions...
Have they found a replacement for you? If not, are they willing to pay for airfare?

Not sure about the replacement, but I can say There isnt a snowballz chance in hell of getting these cheap SOB's to pay any airfare.
Gotta love the Good Ole' Red, White and Blue, thanks Rossbilly and I'll tell her about having to make it up to me, sure that will go over like a fart in church!
Art, it would seem you may have dated yourself with the nursing home remark. Sure wouldnt want to see them in their old Uniforms.

Way better photo ops to be had at Parris Island anyway. All those nasty recruits and goofy parents. Congrats on your son. It's a great feeling seeing your sons big day!! I would know, mine graduated Jan. 27, 06.
Happy Day!!

I agree about the good photo ops. I was actually a Drill Instructor/Senior Drill Instructor at Parris Island just wish I would have been able to take photos back then.
I am sure I'll have a great many photos when I return.
Kelly, I just happened to notice you are in Tennessee...Go Vols!!
Tennessee is home for me, but I am stationed in NC.

25 years, dude you're a lifer. E-Man or Zero? Semper Fi bro, I did 15 and that was a lifetime (not really, Comm-Elec paid a lot more on the outside when I got out). 25 years puts you at coming in at '82 our paths may have crossed.
Congrats and Thanks to you and yours... |

Well, cheerleaders come and go, but this is a once in a life time thing.

If it's any consolation, they're the third string cheerleaders, and if they're the ones who were in a Iraq a few months ago, you really didn't miss all that much. Besides, your other op was a much, much better one. Congrats to you and your son! (Edit to add I'm not slamming the cheerleaders - I think it's a nice thing that they do to visit military installations - just tryin' to do my part on the cheering you up bit.)

You made the right choice. Who knows, you may have something even better come along soon, but not too much better than the cheerleader job.
