I'm probably behind the times here, but oh well. I've searched the forums here, as well as the adobe website, and haven't been able to find any downloads or info regarding the possibility of RAW (specifically .CR2) support in PS7. Am I missing something, or is it not an option?

Not an option.

Damn! Thanks for the quick response.

Well, there's *one* possible option... maybe. If you convert to DNG, it's possible that the RAW converter in 7.0 will open them. I don't recall whether the last version of ACR for PS 7.0 supports DNG or not.

As far as I recall there is no RAW support in PS7 at all.

If you don't want to go to CS@/3 ... an option is to get Lightroom for Raw conversion and do other work in Ps7. Ofcourse, there are other options in RAW conversion, including Canon's DPP.

Hmmm. I wasn't able to find any ACR for PS 7.0. My reason for asking was just to save myself another step in my workflow. I have ACR for PSE4, DPP, and Phase One Capture One LE, so opening a RAW file isn't a problem at all, but there are times I want to utilize the more powerful tools in PS 7.0 vs. PSE4, and workflow can slow down a bit jumping from program to program. If there is an ACR for PS 7.0, and you have a link, I wouldn't mind playing around with different options though.

There was, but it was not updated to the point of the 400D.

edit: just reread my post - I forgot the word not, sawy (I was thinking it but the fingers didn't type it)

I'd check it out, but I gave my PS7 disk away recently, but I'm pretty sure that you're SOL on getting RAW files directly into PS7. As far as I know, CS2 is the earliest version that will import 400D files natively through ACR, while CS will import them through the DNG converter.

That mirrors what I was (or wasn't) able to find.

CS3 and/or Lightroom would be nice to have, but there are a number of other items (lenses, a good tripod, monitor calibration software, etc.) that are higher on my list when I make more money from my captures. At the moment, my photography has to be a self-supporting habit, and I'm a stay-at-home dad with poor time management skills, so it's a little slow going.

See second reply :)

Thanks again for the responses.

I have a Canon S2 IS and process my "raw" files in Raw Therapee 2.2 and save them as a 16bit Tiff file.

Then you can bring them into any version of Photoshop and edit them there.
