Ooh, first dodging your own rhetoric about Darwin, now implying that Catholics aren't Christian! NICE!
Please, just stop making yourself look arrogant and ridiculous. |
I implied nothing.
I am not to say which persons are Christian and which are not. I can say that Roman Catholicism is patently NOT Christian. |
Wow! My best friend, she's like my sister, is a devout Roman Catholic (I'm not), and she's a Christian through and through. I don't know how you can say stuff like this. |
I didn't say she was not a Christian.

Well, pardon me, but isn't saying "Roman Catholicism is patently NOT Christian" (your words) at the least implying that anyone who is Roman Catholic isn't a Christian? I'm sure you'll say it isn't and on and on, that you were talking about the belief system and not the individual, but it seems to me that you can't make blanket statements like that and then, as needed, make exceptions for individuals. That makes no sense.

Roman Catholicism equals "Not Christian"
Person devout practitioner of Roman Catholocism equals Roman Catholicism

Basic algebra says that two things each equal to the same (third) thing are equal to each other. Ergo, you did say she wasn't a Christian ... |

You're tolerant?!?!?!?!
You claim that, but you immediately turn around and attack any belief aside from your own. You must have a very unique definition of tolerance.
Believe what you want. Just don't expect others to share in your beliefs or encourage the religious indoctrination in public schools you evidently desire. |

So loneeyewolf how do you deal with the fact that the Torah and the "Good News" that you read today was argued by the Council of Nicea and ultimately was decided by Constantine (who was a pagan at that time) which gospels would be acceptable. As well they were written after the fact.
The Council of Nicea was Catholic. Your flavor of christianity was derived from a pagan. How do you resolve that or do you just choose to ignore it and espouse your dogma to belittlement of the other beliefs?
From my understanding Jesus was a Jew and his message was one of tolerance, forgiveness and peace. From the links and things you have said in this thread, I see none of those teachings in your posts.
BTW. When did the evangelical version of christianity come into favor and how is that better then lets say Rastafarianism?
Every Rasta I have met can quote scripture better than any preacher I have heard and they are more devout then most "Christians" I have met. But they don't discount me for what I believe.
See I guess it is just the same old you're going to hell if you don't think like me. If that is the case then free will means jack!
Who is to say what is right.
But back to the OP my tax dollars are not for preaching but for learning. |

Sure it makes sense. I believe there are Christians in the Catholic Church, but I don't believe the Catholic church is Christian. There are Christians there in spite of Catholic teaching, not because of it.
As I said (and is quote above), it is not for me to say who is a Christian or is not. Many good people have been misled by R.C. over the years.

Christianity begin in the first century A.D.

Based on the perception of a non-Christian they are more "devout", and I'm not discounting you for your beliefs. I respect your right to believe whatever you want.

There are areas to disagree -- so not it's not think like me. But Christianity is what it is and if you believe Christ, then He IS the only way to God.

This is what I found intolerant from the link you posted.
"The Lie: Evolution
...this book powerfully equips Christians to defend the book of Genesis and opens eyes to the evil effects of evolution on todayâs society."
I just don't see how that is tolerant...
Regards to the rest, I like how you chose to answer some but not the others...
I and I the most I Jah! Just a little Rasta for ya! :-)

Well Duh Spaz, your beliefs aren't the same as his, which means they are wrong.
But seriously, how can you go wrong with vegan cooking, amazing artwork, easy to understand message, and a killer pony tail. Krsna for the win baby! |

You clearly don't understand tolerance.
Stating that evolution has evil effects is not intolerance. Beating up a person who believes in evolution is intolerance. Loving them enough to show them they are wrong is not intolerant, but if they reject the truth, then you live side by side with them, that is tolerant.

Originally posted by HawkeyeLonewolf: And comments like "I happen to be a Christian" and the contradictory "My position is that there's in fact only the one God, and that different peoples perceive Him in different ways." drive Christians batty to no end!
It is impossible to believe all religions to be equal. Because Christianity is based on Christ who taught that He was the only Way to God. So you can believe Christianity -- or you can believe that all religions BUT Christianity are equal. But to say they are all equal means calling Christ a liar and thus Christianity is false and therefore unless you believe all religions are false, you cannot equate them.
But then that's just logic. |
I never said "all religions are equal"; I said I think they are pretty much all "beautiful".
And your logic is faulty.
Let us assume there is only one God; this is what we believe, as Christians. That being the case, then all peoples who worship a single Deity are worshiping the same God; they just perceive him differently. For example, the Old Testament of the Jews is manifestly the same God the Christians worship; it's just that the Jews consider the Christ to be a prophet, not the Son of God.
To say that the Jews do not worship "the same God as the Christians" is to engage in pure sophistry. The Godhead is the same, the interpretation differs.
I believe the same is true with the Muslims, who also consider the Christ to have been a Holy Man.
For you to say, or imply, that is required of Christians to be intolerant of all who do not accept the Divinity of the Christ is IMO ridiculous, and it is, again IMO, the sort of mind set that leads to so many of the world's problems.
R.

Or a Muslim, or a Jew, or an atheist... I don't think Christians have exclusive rights to intolerance in either the giving or receiving departments.
