Hey Fellow DPC'ers,

Last night myself and Ecce Signum got to talking about a pre Christmas stroll around London with our cameras. We did it in 2005 and actually had one of the best days out (avoiding silly places like Oxford Street of course!). Sadly, I spent most of last December avoiding all the bugs and horrible food in my local hospital so missed Christmas completely.

This year, as I'm not planning on a hospital stay, we thought it would be good to go back and see the sights! :o) We also thought it might be nice to see if there were any fellow DPC'ers who might fancy a little GTG?

Myself and Andi ( Ecce Signum) will be there with my wheelchair and a selection of cameras and lenses, it would be great to see a few of you too.

The best dates for us would be weekends so thats 1st/2nd, 8th/9th or 15th/16th of December.

We'd be happy to get some ideas of places to go and things to do but instead of me going on I'll post this and see what happens from here! :o)

Thanks for reading :o)

Down the southbank is nice at night, london eye, tower bridge blah blah. I guess the park is a tough call in a wheelchair.

Hanae and I would love to meet you guys, been on the cards for while so I think you can say we will be there...

It's certainly been a long time coming, it'll be really good to finally meet you both!

I know that some of the parks aren't too bad for wheelchair access but as Andi will be pushing we'd better keep the ground as flat as possible ;o)

I may be in London weekend of 8/9 December (not 100% sure yet), so would certainly be up for it if I am around.

A month too late for me :(

I land there tomorrow for three weeks. It would have been nice to meet some DPCers.

Nooo, you don't want to fly tomorrow! Wait a few weeks, we could be your welcoming party ;o)

Ah, ok, fair point! My 3 day stop in Singapore on the way back from Australia was NOT the highlight of my trip...way too humid! Sorry we'll miss you but hope you have a great time :o)

Count me in. I think I am pretty free all through December. South bank sounds great, you can get some really cool shots `From the south bank`...

See what I did there??

Very good Mark ;o) Glad to see we are all well humoured so far!

This will be myself and Andi's first DPC meet...it's about time! I'm also free pretty much all of December so if Sarah makes it over for the 8th/9th that would be great :o)

Ah sounds interesting, I might join spontaneously depending on how far I got with my essays then.

Cool. But how would I write the reference to you two in my bibliography? :)

Realise this isn't probably everyones cup of tea but the we visited the 'Christmas' ice rink at Somerset house and had the best half an hours laugh you can get for free! Obviously the wheels on my chair aren't made for skating so I'd rather laugh and take pictures of those silly enough to hit the ice but, if there was anyway we could incorporate one of these places in the day that would be great...if not, am sure MAK can provide some equally good entertainment ;o)

From what I remember I didn't pre warn them we were bringing cameras and they weren't that accommodating when we got there, so, if we were to stop by at one I'd check beforehand that we'd be ok to take the odd picture :o)

I'd just like to go on record here and say I didn't suggest a GTG just so other people could take it in turns to push T around London (mind you, it would be somewhere to hang the camera bag lol)

OK! 8th / 9th December 2007 somewhere along the southbank, essays to be written in beer breaks and MAK will provide the laughter (laughing at or laughing with him I'm yet to find out) ;o)

So, any preference over which day and any more interested parties? :o)

Hey Luana, the more the merrier :o) No firm plans yet other than the date and London (taking in the Southbank)) but I'm sure we'll get our act together over the next few weeks :o)

I'm in London over the weekend of the 15th/16th I think cos my buddy is getting married. I'll be in Windsor though... not sure how far that is from where you folks are likely to be though. If it's close enough i'll certainly come down and shake some hands.

I would love to go but it's freakin expensive these days. What's the weather like at that time. Cold and rainy, I assume?

It's a thought but it all depends on accommodations. My friend who lives in Teddington may not be in town at that time.

Glorious sunny, but cold, day here today :o) Come on, you know you want to! I'll let you go for a spin in my wheelchair if you make it ;o)

Wow. Getting to ride in a wheelchair is awfully tempting but I do tend to be a last minute planner. So I wouldn't know til we get closer to the date.

Cost and accommodation may come into play but it's on the table.
