So I rented a Canon 70-200 2.8L IS USM for the month of November. It arrived in the mail today, so naturally I needed to test it out around the house. Some shots of Riley in the house, Some of the dogs outside (some ol' same ol') - I was liking it but regretted that I didn't have anything interesting to shoot. So I'm walking through the back yard up to my office to put the lens away and I spot 4 Racoons over by the tree on the side of the house. I've seen racoons around before and everytime I run to get my camera, they scurry away. This time I had the camera IN MY HAND and with L glass attached! So... snap snap snap!

I got some decent ones but never got all four in the same frame, so I started compositing a little and decided six was better than four...

original

I spose I could just said there were six, but people don't take kindly round here to being fooled, hence the full disclosure. Now to go put some Ravens in the image...

Here's a solo shot of the last guy to run off...

I might buy the lens just for the luck it brings!!

Comments are welcome!

Didn't you know, the L stands for luck, great invention from Canon...

Wow, really nice pics and very convincing editing! The tree with 6 looks so funny, how many pictures did you compose it of? Very sharp and great colors.

PS Did you leave the garbage out again? ;-)

What are the images like straight from the camera Ken ..... I keep looking and drooling over that lens at the shop. We don't have a rental up here, so that's not an option.

Just two:

Thanks and no, no garbage. They used to steal cat food though and one year I trapped one in our greenhouse - big mistake! He went nuts, climbed up the wall and on the ceiling rafters - took a couple hours to coax him out with a very long pole.

The originals I posted had some very minor RAW adjustments and then cropped.

Here's one just resized - no other edits...

Maybe I should rent one, even though it won't fit my cameras?
