here are a few INCREDIBLY QUICK EDITED images taken last night at a pageant that i talked about here:

//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=694514

The lighting was terrible, I had to shoot at 1600 , wide open ...and was on the front row shooting all night. Considering the circumstances i'm happy with the turnout. a little more noise than i would have wanted, but i did all i could. if i flashed, it was terrible. so i did without.

as always, honest opinions and critiques are greatly appreciate!

Thanks so much!

Given the conditions, they turned out pretty good. I don't really notice the noise.

Shutter speed or focus problem?

hah, i think both. i don't remember the exif, but that was one that i believe suffered from lower than normal lighting and such

it was one of the worst of the bunch, i think to get an even somewhat possible exposure i had to hand hold with my 70-200 IS at like 1/40th

Nice job!
I shoot my 70-200 2.8 IS at 1/40th all the time - typical lighting for weddings around here requires it.

I think they look great, except for the focus or shutter speed problem on one of them, but if the rest look this good you're in business.

Yeah, they look good. And they don't look noisy to me.

But maybe that's because my camera is way noisier at 800 ISO and I've learned to accept, and love the noise.

Hey, where are the doll eyes? You can't have pageant photos without doll eyes! ;-)
