Hi,

I'm wondering if someone has had a similar problem.

I use a hardware calibration system (coloreyes), and the profile seems excellent for work in photoshop. Trouble is, when I do a conversion for the web (into srgb color space), my other windows programs display the colors wrong (eg. Internet Explorer, Firefox, the latest version of Irfanview, which is now color managed, & windows picture & fax viewer).

This makes me wonder if others are seeing a bad version of the pictures I upload.

I can emulate the (bad) effect in Photoshop by selecting a "soft proof" of the monitor rgb.

Why would a soft proof of the monitor rgb give a different rendition than a soft proof of windows rgb (it's a windows system anyway).

Anyone have ideas?

Thanks

When you save-for-the-web in PS, the color profile gets stripped off. Most browsers (other than Safari) ignore color profiles, so they just bloat the file. So then the file is no longer color managed, and the Monitor soft proof is the one to use. Not sure why the Windows soft proof looks different (I think it sometimes does for me too).
