I went to a friend's house for a photo shoot at a park. I thought the meet-up place was ok to shoot for walkabout:
Nicholas in a tree

We did our hike and stopped for pizza with the kids; Nicholas was a hoot!
smile for Deb
...but I can't see her!
just take the picture!
you better smile MISTER!
Happy?

ETA: these are late posts from the weekend walkabout. I finally had some time to get 'em posted

Well I am finally getting around to posting these from the weekend. As mentioned earlier in the thread I went shooting with my uncle killjoy181 from his place of work.

We started out at almost the same place with these weird plant things
.

From there we went down to the river where the ducks were hanging out. I could have had a real close up shot the ducks that were hiding in the long grass. Being me and size 13 feet, I came stomping out on to the wood dock and scared them away.

From there I hear Canada Geese coming by overhead. I turn and madly shoot geese in motion with the 5fps on my new 30D. That produced this:

As I was looking up I noticed that the moon was starting to show, so I took a photo of the rather clear view.

Down the road there is another smaller pond/stream that had some more photographic opportunities. One minute I was shooting ducks the next I turned away for a second and a Great Blue Heron appeared. I have no idea where he came from.

By this time the sun was going down and shutter speeds were not high enough to get anymore real good photos so we called it a day.

Apologize for the lack of commenting on my part but I WILL make my way through - I'm very much enjoying your walkabouts! Right now I have very limited access to the internet - hoping to reconcile that within a few days - then I'll have access but with about a 2-3 minute "load" time to view pictures. Still, better than nothing! And thanks for the comments on mine, too!!

Another late-to-post'er er...
Started from my house on a beautiful Saturday morning. With an average high for October of 59 F, it reached 78 F that day. I used the walk-about as an excuse to shoot the wonderful fall foliage.
My first encounter was a garden angel that I couldn't resist.

A few houses later, I came to one really decorated for Halloween (which is getting to be almost as big as Christmas when it comes to outdoors decorations - there are several in the area with lights, and blow-up sculptures on the lawns).

I didn't know which to believe - the sign or the petunias. But maybe I've never seen the movie.

You never know what you'll encounter. I've been by this house many times, and never noticed the wooden chair in the flower garden. I love the contrast of the weathered wood, bark, rocks, and flowers.

And, on the note of you never know what you'll see, my final picture is of a suburban clothesline.

I was just about to take a picture of some beautiful leaves, when the large red battery icon came on and the camera went dead - so I was done whether I wanted to be or not.

Thanks for another opportunity to take a walk-about on a beautiful day, and enjoy a very nice shoot.

Another great walkabout. Thanks again to all the participants and commenters. I've posted some of my favorites from the challenge in a new "Hall of Fame" thread -- feel free to add yours to the mix.

And congratulations to those who participated in the show us your foot treasure hunt ,

... especially silverhawk for his out of the box approach to the hunt [thumb]602841[/thumb],

Luguer who was the only one to actually capture a foot (as colorcarnival keeps pointing out)

and my favorite from Pug-H, who gets props for actually carrying his tripod along on his walkabout to capture this shot.

As the unofficial winner of the treasure hunt, Pug-H has the honor (or chore, depending on how you look at it) of picking the treasure hunt topic for next month's walkabout, and deciding the "winner" who can do the same for the following month
