I am going to be taking photos of a friend and their dog. They want me to take the photos indoors. I have two lights that I could bring and set up, but I don't have a bounce or umbrella. I'm not sure if I should bring the lights (regular lights, not strobes or ABs, or if I should attempt to use my external flash and let it bounce off of the ceiling. She will be using the photos for christmas cards. Any ideas? (besides going to buy a back drop and ABs) :-) |

1-diffuser on the D50 pop up flash, (you can make one , or buy one)
2-20$ 500 Watts lights from target
3-use natural lights from window with your 50mm lens (that would probably be the best, nothing beats natural light) |

Bouncing off the ceiling is a great idea, but you also need some forward bounce for catchlights and fills.
A bounce card can be made by simply placing an index card on the side of the bounced flash.

Now, if there is a large white wall behind you, you can use that too for a more "softbox" look.
