I really have benefitted from the quickness and efficiency of gmail. I get 30 emails a day from 1 google group of my friends now and it only takes up a small amount of space in gnail.

ANYWAY, I thought it was odd that there's not much synergy between gmail and calendar and documents (some other gmail/google features).

In my contacts, I should be able to add someone's birthday to their name and info - but that's not an option. Am I missing something? Seems like a no-brainer.

I figure that sometimes my brain synapese get clogged and perhaps I missed something obvious. ANyone?

At the moment the way contact list is generated in gmail is everyone you email and get an email from, i.e. you are not entering any information to generate that list. Advantage is that I never go through my contact list anymore, just start typing name of the person and its there, it always amazes me how I can find email addresses of people I would have never thought I had!

You can sort them in groups but thats all you can do and it sorts by the frequency of emails itself. I am sure its a matter of time when they will have bdays and other info options available. For me its usually been that way with Google, I think of something, that this would be nifty if they had it, next thing I know it is available, I am sure they are working on it!

Edit to add : I have a feeling they want to bring forward something more intelligent, like if my friend has his b'day specified in his profile it starts showing up in my contact list/calendar/reminders and elsewhere. You can always add things in the info section of each persons profile, but it doesn't do any good imo

I love gmail. What's also cool is that they will let you use your own domain. So my account, david@dterryphotography.com, is really a gmail account!

Mine too, plus I have other domains that I easily control from the same spot. :-)

ok one thing i dont like (or havent figured out) in gmail.

If i want to send an email to all my friends (not all contacts)
I cant do it very easily
I type 'a' and then select everyone that pops up, then type 'b' and select again and so on.

I wish there was a contact list where you can tic off you you want to mail to.

I know you can make groups, but many times what i am sending might involve 10 people and not a group. I might never send those 10 people together anything agin and not worth making it a group

View your list of contacts. Place a check mark next to each contact you want to write to. Click the "Compose" button and away you go. :-)

Sign up for Gmail using your own domain here. Of course, you first need to get your own domain.....

You can buy your domain names through Google, I think my brother did it that way. I buy through GoDaddy.

Hmmm... no direct answer to that one.

But I have a small/easy work around... pretend you're writing a new message. Do the "check off" thing. Click Compose. Now copy everything out of the TO: field and paste it into the TO: field of the message you are forwarding.
