A little background first.
I have a RAW file I needed to convert to B/W. I used PS7, DPP, and Capture One LE, then compared the results. I was happiest with the look of the Capture One conversion. The process in Capture One involved activating the "view in grayscale" button, then adjusting the white balance to get the tones the way I liked, which ended up being the equivalent of a green filter. When I processed the edited file and had it sent to PS to continue editing, it didn't keep the file in B/W. It was the (rather ugly) green. If I create a gradient map layer, it looks similar to what I want, but the tones are muddy, not crisp like in Capture One. Same with using Channel Mixer.
My questions are these:
1) Is it possible to export from Capture One LE as a B/W?
2) If the answer to 1 is no, any thoughts on a better way to convert a green image that will still look crisp?
3) Or do I need to scrap the green version and keep trying with the non-edited copy? |
