hey everyone. We see this thread, and a ticket or two on the same subject. Bear with us while we think this through and we'll let you know asap what the deal is.

I'll bear with you, just make sure you say its okay, lol.

I hope you get armpit fleas for posting this at all if they come back with another "X is illegal under a half-moon between May 17th and August 4th during odd number years if the shutter is tripped by your index finger" sort of concise addition to the rules.

Sorry, I thought this was an easy question that somebody knew the answer to, I didn't think it would be that big a deal. I just wanted to know if it wasn't legal so I could do it the right way before submitting. Because I have seen duotone/tritone pictures before, so I know there is a legal way to do it.

don't apologise for asking a question! :)

Here's the answer:

Lightroom presets are permitted as long as the individual settings applied comply with the rules as set out in the relevant rule set. For example, Basic rules state that all changes must be applied to the whole image. No selections or selective edits are permitted in Basic. Lightroom settings which violate this rule include the application of vignetting, red-eye correction, and spot editing other than for sensor dust removal. When using a preset, the user is responsible for checking the individual settings for compliance with the current ruleset.

Please note: This is not a rules change. Its just an assist to help everyone out! All basic rules still apply in the same way they applied before.
