Hi,
While atop the Empire State Building in Manhattan to shot for the Fill The Frame challenge, I took this shot.
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=35324
I didn't feel that it fit in fill the frame, but really liked it.
I did some dodge and burn along with levels, ect. I'd like to know what you think.

I really like it a lot. I think the left side of the ledge could do with being a touch darker - maybe some further dodge and burning - but I really like the image overall very much. It pulls me in.

I kinda like the photo, but I'm not so sure the ledge and bird in the foreground really help. Maybe if it weren't a pidgeon? I mean, they are thought of as "flying rats" - one of the most despised of all birds (but I guess you couldn't get a hawk to sit there for you!?).
The rest of the photo seems good, but if you are trying to fill the frame (which seems like a good effect here), you should do just that and not leave an unfilled section in the upper right corner.

Thanks for the critiques, I would have had a Bald Eagle perch there but couldn't find one;)
Here is the shot that I did submit

I just saw the pidgeon there and had to take it. Of course some kid saw it and started yelling "Pidgeon,Pidgeon" at the top of his lungs so I only got the one shot:)

I'd have called it "Wait! Don't Jump"
I like how the bird's outline shows so well against the buildings. I'd consider taking a little off the left, to just take off the second corner of the ledge. I think the corner and the "leaning" light-colored buildings behind it pull attention away from the subject.
I've added the same comment on the photo.

I really like it. Its a great Pic. Most people look at a pidgeon as a rat with wings, but they are actually a pretty bird. Look at the colors on your pic of the bird. And the downtown area looks great.
I give it a thumbs up. :)

Great shot - I've left a comment. For 'Fill the Frame' I think it would haver attracted a few pedantic 'off-brief' comments but it may have done really well. Who cares anyway - it's good. ;)

I can't believe the pigeon was up that high. |

I like the photo a lot. The pigeon adds a lot to the photo. I don't dislike pigeons either!
I concur that you should crop off or touch up the over-exposed ledge on the left.
Best,
Renee

I also like this shot a lot. I love the addition of the pigeon, but I feel bad the Chrysler building, at least, is chopped off. Perhaps raise the camera angle an inch or two? We need the bird's head, mostly? |

cropped it - so the eye travels nearer to the path of the birds
original taken with this in mind would give a more dramatic print
just my two cents
