This is a continuous side challenge, its good point is that the comments are distributed randomly over all entry levels. I got the inspiration for this from This Thread by Melethia.
The idea is that whenever you vote on a challenge you vote & comment on the first 10% of the entries as they open, that means that you don't get to select the entries that you comment on, they would be randomly selected as they normally would. Of course you would be free to comment on more entries as you feel the need.
I have been doing this since that Freestudy challenge and it really makes you think about the image presented as not all photo's are what you would normally comment on.
Here is an example: From the Pencil Challenge
Stats: You have rated 110 of 111 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 12 images (11%) in this challenge
Here I had to comment on the first 11 entries (10%) as they opened and I elected to comment on 1 other.
Please post if you will join me.

I think it's great that you're continuing to comment this way! It really is a very good exercise (you learn alot about what you think is and isn't a good picture and WHY - at least in your viewpoint, which helps you compose and process your own work) and it's a good way for folks who may not get many comments in a challenge to get at least a few. I'll do this each time I vote a challenge, too. |

Great Idea... does that mean I am now some 10,000+ comments behind?
I will have my work cut out for me. :O)

10 % is not that much (except when it comes to Free Studies), everyone could do that. Count me in.

Great to have you aboard!
Your right 10% is not much IMHO but its the first 10% that you would vote on that makes this different because they are the photo's that could be placed anywhere, I hope this will help to increase the number of comments that the so called Mediocre or Middle range photo's get because they normally only get 1-3 comments per challenge.

I plan on voting/ commenting on the entire challenge. These sub 100 entry challenges are pretty easy to knock off...
You have rated 20 of 93 images (22%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 20 images (22%) in this challenge. |

Can't promise to help out in EVERY challenge - but have voted on 75% and commented on 12% of the Rainbow challenge.

I've been trying to do the same, I'm voting on fewer, but commenting on most of the ones I do vote on. Having to analyze someone elses shot is a powerful learnign experience for myself and I get more out of it than just doing a quick pass through on everything.
Since I've been doing this I seem to be voting on 20-30%, depending on how many entries there are. |

Count me in, I actually try to leave comments for any pictures that I rate 1-3, or 8-10, no matter what. Plus some others here and there, commenting on the first 10% shouldn't be too difficult to add into my commenting routine.
