No, those are not made up. I've tied my highest number of faves during a challenge AND gotten my first wish list ever. I'm pretty excited! :)

After seeing a 5.4444 this morning I figured I was headed to another dismal score on my Point of View entry. But I just came home to a 5.87, I pressed the refresh button for the first time in months. I want to thank Jeffrey , and Michelle, again for their help on this one.

BTW does anyone have a Brown Ribbon gif. I earned it on my soft focus shot, and I want to place it on my profile page.

I would, of course, be entirely chuffed if you were to sport this overblown little darling (or your personalised version, of course)

but team suck tradition obliges me to make its use available only on the condition that you compose a short dissertation on Why We Brown Ribboners Have to Make Our Own (but we're proud).

Magnificent photo, by the way, envy abounds.

Greetings, earthlings. And all others. Just thought I'd pass along a nice little tidbit - it did NOT hit 100 today. It was only 97 and with a light breeze it felt marvelous outside! Darn chilly in the mornings at 70 or so... Not hitting 100 is a wonderful thing.

Cold snap?

Break out the parkas and mukluks, eh?

I got a pretty cool shot for From the Ground Up that I submitted yesterday. I was just wondering if I was going to have anything inspiring for this group of challenges, too.

I think I may have a Free Study candidate eyed up, too! I'm not going to be too worried about it though, since I don't seem to be able to come up with anything in Free Studies that will crack 6. I'm just plugging along entering them all for the year and scoring half decently in the Marathon through sheer perseverance. I really am really happy with my standing as the highest placing entrant who hasn't broken 6.

In Free Studies, I *REALLY* suck! LOL!!!

While true, the list on the first post is not in a form that I can use to programatically figure out who is on which team, so I have to maintain my own list (this is why I ask that someone PM me when anyone changes teams). What I posted was generated from my list of team data.

If anyone is interested, I could post the perl scripts here sometime.

Congratulations Eve, glad he's home safe and sound.
Congrats too to Deb, under 100 is a good thing. When my son had a layover in Qatar he went for a 5-minute walk went back to the hotel room and photographed his sweat soaked shirt. One of his proudest shots.

October Walkabout Challenge
Captured this image this morning and wanted to share it here.

My walkabout story...if anyone is interested.

It seams Peter raish has charged me with a few words on why the less sought after, yet earned all the same Brown Ribbon must be artificially created, ‘instead of being offered’ similar to it's brethren on the upper echelon of this scoring process.

Brown, the color of death, disease, and unspeakable secretions.
The Brown Ribbon stands for last, the DNMC, the out of focus, the unappealing, undesirable for most, a statement that there are no redeemable qualities to your attempts, or in plain English “YOU SUCKâ€, and few choose to remember such degradationâ€Â¦..
But there is the few.
The few who choose to step free of the “boxâ€, and choose the path less traveled or start a new one. The few that art escapes definition, but flows like air on a windless day. The few that wish to carry the banner that states not that we failed, but that you failed to understandâ€Â¦Ã¢€Â¦

Alan

PS. Does this pass initiationâ€Â¦.. :)

Edited for grammar, sentence structure, and abuse of the English language.

With flying colours sir. Well something sort of brown and sort of flying to be more (or less ) precise . . .
This is the smaller version:

help yourself, brown bro :)

So.....I really need some honest feedback. I've flown a couple of portraits that I've taken by you guys in the past weeks or so, and I'm starting to get inquiries about doing some portraiture on a more serious level, i.e. for people who want these images for posterity. Most of the ones that I've done have had some light PP done, but nothing serious other than removing some errant intrusive piece of background as opposed to manipulation of the subject herself. This is a candid I caught of one of my daughter's cheerleading teammates at a friend's birthday party last night across a crowded room. Her mom about melted when I gave her a copy. I was pretty happy with it. I consider myself a beginner at this stuff, but I also do feel that I seem to have a knack for catching these shots. Do you guys think that I have a pretty decent shot at doing good work for these parents? I'd rather take a blow to the ego, perhaps a little deflation and some honest criticism than sign on to produce quality imagery and not be able to deliver as I should. PLEASE be frank, and if you don't feel comfortable with what you have on list, please PM me freely. Thanks for your consideration, and any who don't want to offer an opinion, that's okay as well.

Who from the Golden Brigade is still out there? I think I have only seen a couple of pictures at the end of each challenge from our team. So, do we need to do a sound off?

Numbers don't lie, or if they do, they lie the best. I think Charlene should go on the OOFers.

As much as I wanted her to be on my team, I have to concur.
