Holy crap, Rob! I'm amazed you remembered. :)

Please don't tell my wife; in remembering that, I then didn't have room left in this little tiny brain of mine to remember to pick up milk yesterday . . .

It's been four months of this acting gig, and for the most part it's going well. However, I'm tiring of the feeling that everything is a test (probably more internal than coming from my boss). No end in sight.

That's the thing with acting titles; I mean, look at the title! You're not supposed to actually do the thing, you're supposed to act like you're doing the thing. It's tough to win in those situations, but I'm sure you're doing fine (stop giving yourself a hard time)!

I second that! Welcome, Charlene!

Didn't play in Macro since I didn't want to get any more "could be sharper in focus" comments...lol...but there were some truly stunning images in this challenge.

On a side note...my son is arriving back in the US from Iraq on Friday! He is coming home safe and sound with some new jewelry for his uniform. I am so proud of him and the job he did for our country and am looking forward to him coming home on leave.

Your secret mission is to explain in your own words, your own way, why the world needs raish. Trust me, it does.

Phew! Glad to hear that. Now, once we get Deb back over here, I'll feel a lot better...

Yay Eve! That is wonderful. Warm thoughts for a safe journey for him. Take pics of his homecoming and post them!

Here is the scenario :

It's 9:30 at night, you've just closed a meeting in a large public building.
You are the last adult in the building.
You have 4 children with you (11, 5, 3, <1).

You lock the meeting room, and go through the doors you normally go through to leave, not fully noticing a note on the door.

This puts in you a small hallway, with the door to the parking lot at the other end.

You notice a note on the outer door saying "USE FRONT DOOR. WET CONCRETE". The door is locked, and barricaded from the outside.

You turn about to go use the front door, but find that the door leading to the hallway is locked as well.

You do not have the key for the hallway door.

You realize you've left your cell phone on the charger at home.

What do YOU do ?

LOL! Either you're posting from a Blackberry or you figured a way out. I'd set all four kids to yelling at the top of their lungs. They'd have a good time, and surely someone who'd just left the meeting would hear, right? I love your stories.

No Blackberry, we were rescued fairly quickly.

Nobody who'd just left the meeting would have been able to hear us, and the door we were at faced a parking lot at the BACK of the building.

pull a firealarm. if there is no firealarm, plan your lawsuit.

Nobody *NOTICED* a fire alarm - though that would have been an excellent idea.

Flashing the lights on and off might help if you were able to reach the switch, or the fuse box, which might even black out the car park a bit.

Basically, the first thing I'd do would be to panic, so everything then depends on how fast I get out of that phase, if at all :)

Hey, that's pretty smart!

I got nuthin' beyond that and screaming a lot.

Err ... could you pry the cover off some air vent and send a kid crawling through it?

So what DID you do?
10/16/2007 02:45:48 PM · #1142
This was basically my actions:

First - trying to keep the 11-yr old calm.

Then banging on the door (useless, as the parking lot it faces is at the back of a building).
Then just waiting until we saw a car in the parking lot, and shouting and banging on the door again.

Luck was with us - the car was a security patrol, and the security guard let us out, and likely had a good laugh at our expense after the fact I imagine.

My thoughts were - I had a friend's child with me, so when she was not home at a decent time, my friend would have called the police and sent them to look for us. Also - I had our car, and when I didn't appear to pick up my husband from work, and also was not at home, he'd have called the police and sent them to the meeting place.

And - worse case - the building would be used again in the morning, and I had drink boxes, pretzels, water, and some arrowroot cookies with me, as well as diapers for Wyatt. It was lit up, and heated.

All in all, we were only trapped for about 10 minutes, though it felt a LOT longer than that.

My hand and hip are quite bruised and sore today though - guess my panic came out in the banging on the door.

Well folks...I entered something for one of tonights challenges that I know is wayyyy to artsy for dpc. (well, it might just be crap, but I think it is artsy...lol) I know it will do very, very badly, and possibly take the brown.

Should I bite the bullet and leave it there, ruin my overall score average and see how many comments it gets? Or should I chicken out and not enter it?

I think the real question to answer is "How thick is your skin"? sometimes artsy photos do not do well, but not totally bomb you know.

Leave it in, as I am one of th voting members that votes high an artsy images, especially if they are good.....

I have been getting some dreadful scores lately, and I decided to take Debs Melethia advice. That is, if I like it, don't worry about the score or your average. Yes, I love my score and average to be higher, but have decided to participate, and enter challenges, as thats is what I love doing, and hang the scores, that is, if you love your image as much as I do.

Artsy? Having people try to interpret your picture can be fun!

I was lost and bewildered
No purpose or desire
I was looking for answers
To part my confusion
A dim light through noise caught my eye
I could tell it was an image
That opened my mind
The title alone led me to believe
It is not I who is confused
But Raish, the Artist

Charlene, you have out done yourself. That is not only funny, it seems to be true.
