ok, I really really wanted to use my sexy macro lens to win the macro challenge, but then I fell in love with the usual suckspect... an interesting, not-immediately-recognizable shot with a shallow dof... here I go again...

Yay, Don!! :-)

For some reason, that makes me feel a whole lot better about my own sucky stuff of late. Misery loves company or some such. (I'm just jealous of your sexy lens...)

Morning here in lovely Kuwait and I really don't wanna go to work, but it's either that or be stuck in my humid little pod all day, so off to work I go. Good luck to all the macroites!

Ok, I'm in for Macro, with something that should get me a nice 6...bottom 6% that is.

Good luck to fellow folks in macro.

Hey, I passed a milestone - got my average score up to 5.6 despite my recent artsy free study entry (3 faves and counting!).

I'm glad I'm seeing what some of you want me to see in your images; I'm not done with Flora II yet (goal is to comment the whole thing), but I thought it ended last night and I had not made it through (just barely 1/3 of the way through). Shows how much attention I've been paying to end dates, huh? So, anyway, I'll keep at it (the point being to enjoy commenting again, and to get my comments given back above my comments received).

And Ernie ( basssman7), the thread you got nailed in is a particularly nasty little piece of work; I dipped my foot in, but got back out pretty quickly (nothing really along the lines of rational discussion is going on there). It epitomizes what, to me, I don't like about this place, so I've decided to just play here (in Team Suck), and read other parts of the forum lightly (things like "buy/sell," in case there's a bargain; and bits of "current challenge" to find past challenges, though I may just find them myself and start posting them here for everyone's use; and of course, TS related threads like results and reaction club). I suggest you do the same!

Hope all are well; if you're in Flora II and haven't heard from me yet, you will :)

Best,

RobH

Yet, here in team suck, there is substance. There is kindness, searching, depth and caring. For art, for meaning, for people (as people). A genuine desire to share (really share, not sell), to improve. Where you can post if you're buying a house (congratulations, David, hope the move goes smoothly), if you're having a tough time (hang in there, Shez, you see light and life and beauty having lived a life that so many people could not have even lived as a mere existence), if you're sent away (we still think about you daily, Deb), if your body (and your doctors) surprise you -- twice (Kelli, we hope you're doing okay), if you're made king -- even acting king (how's that going, Jeffrey?). There are people so dedicated to the whole suck thing, and to all of us suckers; thanks for your ever-present presence RobM and Karen, and for leadership, a kind word, and inspiration, thanks to Don. Everyone here inspires me in some way or another, so I won't name you all, but I will say: I'm so glad I found my way here.

Nicely put, Rob.

It's that substance that both gives me a feeling of being a part of something worthy, and to aspire to, that helps to give what I do here meaning and purpose, and enables me to get past the sniping and less than thoughtful comments when they do happen.

This general considerate and thoughtful attitude that prevails here as a matter of course, rather than a conscious effort, is certainly what keeps me back, and is what has been the single most guiding influence in my continued improvement.

I also truly love to see the continued growth of the other members here, and enjoy hearing, and seeing, all of you in little bits and snippets of your journey through life.

It really is a way of life here.

Darren, it does seem like ages! Welcome back!

My Macro is languishing at 5.2 (poor sexy lens) but I got a nice comment from yanko! :)

I don't have scores on, but I'm betting I'm neck and neck with you on macro, Don. I did check yesterday and have to say my flora was a bit (alot) higher than I'd figured, which is a very pleasant surprise!

Oh, and it appears your better half stole the mojo from your sexy lens with her Searching shot... :-)

Well I have not totally disappeared. Melethia has offered to be my mentor (thanks Deb!!). I also have met the perfect addition to this rag tag group. She is a better photographer than her scores seem to indicate, and occasionally gets a little hard on herself. I have suggested that there is a better way.

Without further ado, let me introduce cfarrell.

Hi everyone. I feel like I've lost my desire, somewhat, for photography. I'd really like to get back and feel good about it! So thanks BAMartin for introducing me to what I hear is the BEST group at DPC!

Charlene! Yay! I think you are a good photog too. You do not give yourself enough credit. Glad to see you here!

Welcome Charlene.
This is a great group here. When you're down they pick you up. When you're seeking info they supply it. And when you just want to chat, someone is always around.

Hey guys!
Just thought I'd stop by and say hello :)
I haven't been that active on DPC recently due to being stupidly busy and running around like mad. I've been doing lots of photography outside it though - I'm in a group of photographers covering a fire festival in Edinburgh, and we've been training a couple of times a week for it (in low light, performer-esque settings). Gave me an excuse to buy a new 50mm prime and everything :)

Anyway, I'll get around to uploading some of the shots to my portfolio one of these days... In the meantime, here's a shiny thing :)

I'm wondering if I'll get through the whole challenge without comments, lol...

Holy crap, Rob! I'm amazed you remembered. :)

It's been four months of this acting gig, and for the most part it's going well. However, I'm tiring of the feeling that everything is a test (probably more internal than coming from my boss). No end in sight.

Thanks so much for asking - it really brightened my day!

This is such a great place to be here at Team Suck.
I just want to say a BIG thank you to everyone for helping me get through this past two weeks, when I was down, and out of touch..... Thanks heaps.
