| hi all someguy is selling hes 70 200 f 4 L here in lima i was considering buying the thing is that he lost the manual and dont have any idea how that lens work. i mean i ask him about the stabalizer mode 1 or 2. what ar the diffrence between this 2 modes? can anyone explain? thanks |

Mode one is to have the stabilizer work in both the x and y plane.
Mode two is correction only in the y plane (I believe) that way you can still do motion panning with the lens.

This description doesn't seem very clear. I always thought it was for motion panning - maybe that's what it's trying to saying. But I bet google would help you find a better description.

Mode 1 is for standard image stabilisation - like, when the shutter speed is quite slow, so normally the lens would shake, but with IS mode 1 on, it doesn't, you gain about 4 F-stops by having it on.
Mode 2 is specifically for motion panning - it registers the direction in which you're moving the lens, and stabilises in all directions other than that one, so that you get a stable image, but with a motion panning trail running in one direction.
Most of the time you just keep it on Mode 1 though - I can't say I've ever used mode 2. |

HEY thanks guys that was really cool of you, iwas wondering about that is modes, now i know.
any toughs about that lens? for the price i think is pretty good the mian problem is the Dof is there enough dof? im going to use this lens for candis wildlife street pics and stuff..
