Does the 40D have a full frame sensor? I dont understand the sensor size.

Canon 40d: 22.2 x 14.8 mm

Pentax k100d: 23.5 x 15.7 mm

Can someone explain how these dimensions work, since the 40d is supposed to be full frame, I think?

No, It's an APS-C sensor.

good to know my canon sensor will out beat yours by a long shot with its noise levels at high ISO, oh and proper WB :P

haha just playing :-)

Oh! We rarely need to bump ISO. Thats what the in camera Optical Image Stabilisation is for. So HAHA :)

Sorry! just had to get that one in :)

Image stabilisation does squat when the people you are shooting are moving around... HA! :P

The 6mp sensor on the K100D is one of the best on the market for high ISO noise, and has a wider dynamic range than all but the Fuji S3/5 (although I haven't seen data for the new Canon models yet)...

Maybe, but it'd be close enough that you couldn't declare a clear winner.

Hijacking my own thread. So Andrew, I think I'm going to wait on that pentax 60-250mm f4 release, b4 I jump the gun and get that Canon 70-200 f4. Did u get any rumours on price?

Latest I've heard is someone on the DPReview forums seems to think the delays are because Hoya wants Pentax to get these ones right, with no QC issues and lots of supply... therefore delaying them until PMA. As for price, I still think the 700-900 range is a good bet.

In the meantime, Pentax's newest lens is a rebadge of the Tamron 18-250, which by all accounts is actually a pretty good superzoom. IMO, its a great move to help with the glaring deficiency in the tele end of the Pentax lineup. It should be on shelves within 2 weeks...

That lens would be perfect for your k10d with that weatherproofing. And specially those conditions u shoot in. U still considering switching to canon?

Nikon, but I'll always be a Pentax fanboy. ;-)
