Well now im having printer problems. I have a canon i950. It has been sitting around for a year, but have now hooked it up to my new iMAC. I configured it etc.....

The problem is #1: I try to print out an 8x10, but i only get a part of the image...ie.. i want to print a portrait, but the mouth chin and nose take up the entire 8x10 area, not the entire face.

#2: The pic. quality SUCKS.... nothing compared to my screen in terms of sharpness... print is blurry/fuzzy... just aweful quality.

Any tips, ideas, solutions?

Maybe you need to recheck you printer settings as it sounds like it is printing the image the size of the file rather than the 8x10 you want. That's why the quality is so bad. Dont know too much about this sort of stuff but I would at least receck everything.

Definately run your clean print heads cartridges a couple of times, then look for a print preview button and apply all necessary buttons and last button apply before printing. Your printer should offer a print test page button. if lines have breaks in a color keep cleaning or replace that color. psart

I'd blame it on the MAC and toss it out and buy a PC.

ETA this post is in fun, based on all the people who scream for others to blame Microsoft and windows for their problems. Real help in next post. :D

Now I would make sure that your using the software that came with the printer. Usually canon has some kind of program that does sizing and tells the printer to print the size that you need, not to print it at file size. As long as the printer has been sitting around, definatly need to run printerhead cleaning several times, also be sure to align the printer with a test print, usually using the bundled software as well.

I thought all of that kind of stuff just works with Macs.

Use the "file" button at the top of the screen, and in the dropdown, select "Print". Then select "preview" to see what it is going to look like before running the printer. That way, at least you will not be wasting paper and ink.
You may have to resize the image. If you are using iPhoto, I think you can do it with "crop" while you are editing, by choosing in the dropdown the size you want to print. If you print full size, most default images from camera are set to 72DPI at full size, so it looks grainy if you are only printing a small corner of the whole image. Native size for the S3Pro Fuji that I am using is 40" X 60".
I had to reload the OEM software for my HP printer not long ago to get it to work after upgrading to OSX 4.
The help files with the programs you are using should have something about resizing if you can find the right article. Use the search in 'Help".
