I just ordered this lens today. Reviews are excellent but one thing that I should be careful, it looks like a very fragile lens. I usually don't drop lens or camera (not so far) but I would like to know if Canon did something about the body? or if there is a workaround like using crazy glue (less than drop of it) to some outside assembly places, or taping or something?
Anyone has any experience?

Lovely lens. It's sturdy enough - it won't fall apart in your hands. It's just not solid like some others.
Actually, I just used tape on mine today, but it wasn't for strength - it was for magnification. Luckily, I found a reversing ring on eBay and won't have to use tape anymore.
Anyway, sorry to derail your thread. The 50mm is awesome, you'll love it! And don't worry about strength - if you drop it, just buy another one! =) |
