I received notice yesterday that a b&w silver print version of this tree will be published in the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society's magazine next January. Sometimes you get a feeling about something being good. Let the force guide you.

Mary, I love that shot. I think I like it better in B&W, but for some reason, when I click on the thumbnail it says that the image belongs to a user who is no longer a member. I have tried many times to get a shot like that, but haven't yet succeeded!

I love that shot, too, it's awesome (as the Horticulture Society has rightly recognized). We can't see the b&w right now because Mary is not a member, she is a registered user (the color version was in a challenge, so that will stay visible). I don't mind either way (though I do miss her portfolio), 'round here suckage is a way of life that does not require a blue shirt (ie, DPC membership) :)

Of course, you can see some of Mary's images on her flickr pages and some of Gnarf's on his webpage.
Still, no easy commenting (in Gnarf's case, no commenting at all), no back and forth bantering . . . so I agree, Deb, there's just something . . . missing . . .

My OPINION....
Since this is your first venture, get a D80 and buy more/better glass with the price differential. The D200 will be dropping in price like a stone pretty soon once the D300 starts to ship, and as a low end user, I won't appreciate the minor differences between the two for 90% of the work that I do, so maybe you won't either.
You'll get the familiarity with either unit, and after about 16 months, I'm still at a point where I'm working with glass and my owner's manual before I would even consider an upgrade on a body. My D70s meets my needs PERFECTLY, and I'll probably keep it 'til it's worn out.
Just my $0.02 US.......YMMV |

Yeah.....I like to see what it starts out like.....
ALL RIGHT!!!!! I can't help myself......and it *always* plummets by the next morning.
But usually when you start at a 7 or better, it doesn't dip below 6.
I mean.......all of 6.4 ain't too freakin' shabby!!!!
