Nope. 24 hour speed challenge. I love 'em. Can't think what to shoot, but I love 'em.

Damn

13 minutes into it and there is an entry already

i saw that - someone must have remote captured a shot of something in the room that they were currently in :)

I just hope people don't vote down just because there are flags in the shot. Of course we're gonna see some, and this is a time that it is completely appropriate (I'm not entering one, so this isn't just to pump up my entry).

i don't think people will vote down for that - especially since the challenge description specifically mentions 9/11.

I'd like to see some flags from countries that really have freedom.

You underestimate the anti-american bias around here - from within and without. Just look at irockstars comment.

And, btw, fwiw, I'd love to see flags from anyone who's proud of the freedoms they have in their country.

...and how much American blood was spilt freeing them?

One example would be our good neighbors to the north!

I'm not anti-american. I just don't think we're better than anyone else.

But your statement implies that we̢۪re worse then everyone else.

No it doesn't. I just think we have a long way to go, as far as freedom in concerned.

thelsel - you hit the nail on the head. America helps out so many nations...only to be hated later...apparently our money is o.k. but we are not?

...And in other news: France surrenders...Canada has a two for one immigration special for known terrorist states...and....

irock - i think our freedoms are great and plentiful. I just think that we have to watch out for them...politicians are more than happy to take them away...

Maybe I misread your comment. When you said "I'd like to see some flags from countries that really have freedom", that certainly seemed to imply that America has no freedom, or has significantly less freedom than other countries.

And, we're not better than anyone else? We're not better than Iraq under Saddam Husein? Than Afganastan under the Taliban? Than Uganda under Idi Amin? Than the old Soviet Union? Than North Korea? Hmmm. That's not even worthy of arguement.

Maybe you meant to say we're not better than everyone else? OK, I can agree with that, at least in a general, divine-right type sense. But from a standpoint of freedom, liberty and ideology, we're head and shoulders above quite a bit of the world.

edit:
Whoops! Took longer answering that than I thought. This was in response to the comment: "I'm not anti-american. I just don't think we're better than anyone else."

If come to California illegally, you might end up with more rights then it̢۪s citizens. Free healthcare, public assistance, tax refunds...

Hmmm, the last time I was in Canada, I still had to obey traffic laws, stop at customs, obey rules. I wasn't free to do whatever I wanted. I think I am totally missing your point irock.

America helps with a very important caveat: the condition that the helped adopts American modes. Only those that sacrifice their culture (to some extent) can be allies.

'You're either with us, or against us'.

Not my idea of freedom.

Of course there are still rules. Without traffic laws you'd surely get into more accidents, etc.
They have the freedom of living in less fear. Without getting into terrorist attacks or school shootings, how about everyday things like... they don't have to worry about medical bills if they were to become ill.

And for those of you who I seem to have upset or who thought I'm anti-american, here's some pics I took tonight.
