I've decided that I need to try and take more indoor shots for this challenge, because that is where I need a lot of help. This one turned out ok tho because it's not of a person and I can take a lot of pictures without having to worry about it getting too crabby at me. See - it's still smiling!

Day 9 - Sunrise shot gone horribly wrong (kind of in a rush not to miss the bus). Tomorrow is another day.

Actually was able to do some shooting tonight. This is the light from the setting sun that was enhanced by the gradient filter that I hand held in front of the lens. Just playing around.

Day 9 - Brunswick Street, Fitzroy.

Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne.

About 10pm on a Saturday night.

I'm in an alley shooting back towards the street corner. The alley is dark, no lighting, the light you see on the postbox & bike is from a restaurant. There is quite heavy traffic, including trams which throw off quite a bit of light spasmotically.

Mmmmmm, something tells me we are going to be seeing a lot of fauna and flora shots that did not make it into the main challenges but that had good light. I know I have a few, I'll post them soon once I fix them up a little.

#5, 6 and 7 -- starting to catch up after a late start.
(The one I entered into the fauna challenge is totally different than any of these -- but it is tanking, so perhaps I sumbitted the wrong one!)

Joe, I finally did it. Towards the sun :). It didn't turn out like yours though. You had the cool looking sun. I have the blah sun hahaha..... Maybe the different times of day?

Day 11

Taken indoors at my dentists office. He saw me taking pictures of this white orchid and got out this cool pure blue light thingy. He held it behind the orchid while I got off a couple of shots.

Day 10 - Final some fairly clear skies.
f4, 1/160, ISO 100, 4:30pm
Used an grad ND filter on the 20mm to control the light in the clouds. Still a bit too bright up there.

Day 11 - Sophia

Another fill flash experiment.

9.30am Bright sunny Spring day. We were sitting under light shade.

I was using my 100mm 2.8 and choose to use my camera's flash to 'fill'. I really like the outcome - very gentle.

And before you say anything - no, this isn't a case of 'too much Neat Image' this little girl really does look this perfect!

A bit behind on the submittals - and way behind on commentary.

I am a little more lucid but still in alot of pain from a tooth that now needs a root canal. Because of my situation you will have to forgive me that these two are about a year old. However, I do have a good memory and still remember the conditions and have the camera settings.

For sheer fun and this is Halloween season after all:-)

Waiting

My condolences, CNovack, on the condition of your tooth. I hope you have an early appointment to get it fixed. No fun.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Worse yet, those root canals are expensive. Thought a photo from the most recent backlighting challenge would be relevant here, especially since it involves good quality light:

Hope you get better soon!
