Skip, everytthing looks pretty good. Congrats! Just one bit of advise if you will, on your huddle shot...you want to place the key person (bride or groom) at your six o'clock position. It gives a bit of balance and order to your shot. Just a suggestion. Looking forward to seeing some more stuff from the wedding.

Nail - Head... SMACK!!!

I think you did great skip! I like to shoot informally myself, grabbing as many candids as possible.

I love the close up of the Champagne and flowers with bride OOF in the background...

I played with 0462. Setting the blacks and whites in Curves and then bumping the Contrast by 5 made a huge difference in my eyes. Bump it by 10 and the bride starts to glow, but not so much that you lose the stitching detail in the dress.

I think you did well. I just don't like the post processing.

=)

I agree

No kiddin'. And adults are SO uncooperative! The kids are generally better ... they're used to being told what to do. But adults? They think they know best. You simply *have* to sound like you're in charge or they won't do anything you say.

I know what you mean! Try doing it when your only 17! I had to use my big boy outside voice, It worked... and felt pretty good that people would actually listen to me and do what I say

Thanks!

Be sure to check out the garter-toss shot. I had to laugh when I saw how lucky the timing & position was, haha.

Those are my two daughters in the front of the crowd for he bouquet toss. I didn't notice them in the background of the shot with the groom's head up the bride's dress, their expressions are priceless to me. They'd never been to a wedding before and they had an absolute blast! :-D

oops, didn't upload that one, here it is:

Slippy Does Weddings!! Sounds like a porn movie :)

Apart from the fact you locked the Pro photog in the shed and took his place, you dun well! Good mixture of B&W and colour, candid and formal. Good work!

Just a question (Great shots by the way):

How'd you do the lighting on the two bridesmaids at the table.

Looks like you had a softbox to their right, but that's hardly possible. Did you have a wall to bounce flash... Reflector to bounce flash...?

I'd love to know

cheers

David, thanks for all the comments, wow! Your wedding shots are great, something for me to work toward.

Thanks. I took that shot in lanscape (it's uncropped) so the flash is above, rather than to the side. I had an external flash attached to the camera, with a Gary Fong lightsphere on it. The ceiling wasn't very high, and was white, so I had the top off the lightsphere, and the flash pointed up to bounce off the ceiling.

I used full manual settings on the camera for the reception so I could easily change the f-stop for dof and/or the shutterspeed to vary the amount of ambient light. The wall behind the head table had little lights behind a sheer, which made for a nice effect if dragging the shutter.

The settings for this shot were 1/125sec (the 40D syncs up to 1/250), f3.5, ISO-800, using the 24-70mm f/2.8L lens at 38mm.

I guess the extra light that looks like it's coming from the right is ambient plus some bounce(?) The room was darker to the left, but by this point the dancing was underway and everything was very dark.

I did use NI and then did some gaussian blur on their skin.

Oh ya, ... and oops to the bottles.
:-)
