Back from a marvelous vacation in VT and Maine. Would you believe the temps hit 90 degrees in Portland Maine on September 26th? Wow, it was hotter than Florida.
While there we just happened upon the Portland Head Lighthouse at sunset and full moon too.

Xianart, not sure I "get" the Perry series in your portfolio, but it was a joy to look through. Fun stuff! |

Sad part is, that neither of us will likely be in the top 50! Oh well, it is just nice to be over 6. :)

100th challenge, Free Study.
Sitting at 5.1 and sinking slowly. Might do a Flora, but then again might not. My photo isn't bad, it is good in detail, but obviously not to DPC taste. I should have learnt by now. Perhaps it is time to take a sabbatical. The interest is waning, the progress is waning, might be time to do the last few Free Studies and call it quits! |

Thanks for all the great wishes everyone. I went for my follow up with the cardiologist today who came right out and admitted it was their fault I had the second heart attack. When being discharged from the hospital the first time, the doctor asked if I had all the prescriptions on the list at home. I told her I didn't have Plavix since I had never been on it, so she crossed it off the list instead of giving me a prescription for it. My doctor said if I had been taking it I never would have gotten the blood clot that KO'd me for the second one. The worst news is, even though there was no damage from the first one, the second caused quite a bit. I'm out of work until at least December 1st. I get testing done to determine the full extent of the damage the day before Thanksgiving and go back for my prognosis on 11/30. He said there's no guarantee that I can ever go back to work. They are currently trying to figure out who the doctor was, and I was told she would be severely reprimanded. I don't remember her name or what she looked like, because I saw so many while I was there. So today I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. |

Hi all, from the FL Keys GTG. Just checking in and haven't had time to read the last couple of pages. I'll post photos from the GTG next week and will tell of some of the good times later.
Can you believe I am bummed out by a 6.75 score. That's what I have at 102 votes in the Half challenge. The reason I'm bummed is because I had 7.0000 at 50 votes. It would have been my first 7.x and I had high hopes. Well it's not going to happen, so I'm just going to readjust my attitude and be happy with what I have, which includes 10 comments and a Fav. But if you haven't voted in that challenge, please do.

Yeah, well....
I know how you feel since I personally thought that my half entry is fresh and creative, and of the six comments I got, Melethia gave me a nice comment, one other said they gave me a 7, and two others said they gave me 10s.

Plus......I still have that weird view/vote ratio and a not noteworthy score.
Oh well.....
I shouldn't dwell on it.

Kelli, if I were you, I'd be downright pissed off (pardon my English) but in your case, don't get too pissed off right now, since it'll do bad things to your blood pressure. :-) DO find out who the doctor was - you have a reasonable lawsuit on your hands if you ask me, and I am not a "there's a lawsuit for everyone" kind of person, either.
Julianne, sorry about the score - but if it makes you feel better, go back in the thread and look at all my scores. :-) |

Congrats to all of your high scores. I'm not joining you any time soon.
My free study has settled in for good at 4.7. I do have two faves and lots of positive comments, though, including one from posthumous. So I know I hit the artsy target.

Kelli. I honestly just can't believe it. Crossed it off instead of writing a prescription for it. I'm dumbfounded, really. Probably some overworked, underpaid resident, doing all the work while getting no sleep. I'm with Deb on this one, when things have settled just a little, ask friends about a good lawyer, one that they trust, preferably a friend. Don't worry about whether they do health related work, just see them and ask for a referral. Whatever you do, please don't get a lawyer from the yellow pages or off of TV. But do see one. They (the doctors) don't get to have a system that lets them make tons of money, makes residents do tons of hours of work, and then just sit and smile when something goes wrong.
Sorry for going down this road, especially right after it's happened, but I can't imagine what you must be feeling (both emotionally and physically), and I don't have words -- or even an image -- that I feel would help right now. Not in a situation like this. It hits my "completely unfair" bone, and I want to find a way to make things a little bit better. Any way to make things better.
One more bit of advice, if you can take it: don't listen to them (the doctors). If they tell you that you'll never work again, don't believe it. If they tell you that you have to live a quieter life, don't listen to them. Decide what you want of your life, learn about your condition and how people have overcome it, and do it. No, it's not fair that you have to do this. But make it a choice, your choice; don't let them decide for you. They're not perfect (as you've already learned). Medicine is not a science, it's an art, and some of the "artists" don't have more than one color in their paint box (and often it's just gray, at that). Bring your own colors, and paint your own picture.
I'll be thinking of you and hoping things go as well as they can.
Best,
RobH |

Kelli, My dad is knocking on 70, had a quadruple bypass ,a couple heart attacks, and a stroke. If I donât miss my guess, this weekend he probably will be waving his fly rod over the Lost, the Big Wood, Silver Crick, or some other Idaho stream that is so clear you can see the bottom. That is unless itâs hunting season, early season is Blue Grouse and they live on the sides of mountains.
My point is, if you have a Dr. telling you âyou canâtâ find one that shows you how you can..
Wishing you a speedy recoveryâ¦â¦â¦.Alan |

Kelli, Any doctor who tells you anything will happen with 100% probability (if you had been on plavix you would not have had another heart attack) isn't being honest. I know there may be restrictions imposed by medical insurance on shopping around for a cardologist but you may want another opinion of a cardiologist not affiliated with the hosptial/clinic you are currently going to. |

Thanks guys! I am considering a lawyer. The reason I've gotten the admission of guilt is because of a second opinion. The second incident was at a different hospital in a different state with a completely different set of doctors. They squarely put the blame on the first set, whom upon me seeing them, admitted to it. As a matter of fact, I didn't find out until yesterday, but the second group actually called the first group and gave them hell about their practices. I don't think this would have been the case if I had ended up back in the same hospital (Cooper Hospital, Camden, NJ) the second time. I much prefer the second group of doctors and their hospital (St. Mary's in Langhorne, Pa), but they are much too far to deal with on a regular basis. I only ended up there by chance because that's where I was working that day and it happened at work. |

Over 100 votes...and a meager 5.26 - but I figured it was not DPC voter friendly. I'm suprised by the number of comments though. Most I have ever had in a challenge.
