Wow I am really excited too. Checking back here often like it was a challenge entry. lol.

I've never been out with any of the crew from the NE- what does everybody usually do for travels? I can offer my truck up if that's needed. It's a crew cap f-150 and will seat 5 but 4 is better. Also has the bed cover that can be used to through any bags under.

Let me know.

I also have my van which seats 7 but 6 is more comfortable.

bump
10/04/2007 09:35:06 AM · #54
Time for another bump. The leaves are really starting to change and I think we may have some decent color for next weekend. I just hope the weather cooperates.

I should be able to get my hands on a mini-van for the weekend, so between that and what others have posted I think we'll have plenty of room.

I think it's time to start finalizing the agenda. Take a look at the original post and see if there is anything there that you don't think is worth doing, or if there are other things you'd like to try to see.

With the exception of the 6 AM crap (hence why I'm coming up on Friday night and staying over both days) because I'm really not a morning person, it looks great to me. I can also be a designated driver as I gave up drinking a while back, along with smoking. FYI, no smoking in my van, so who ever goes with me has to suffer just like my hubby, LOL! :)

I am sooooooooooooooo looking forward to this

Where do we meet in Ithaca at 6am crap ;)?
10/04/2007 10:53:59 AM · #57
Well, for Saturday the plan is to drive over to the East side of Seneca Lake. I really like the area over by the Wagner and Lameraoux Landing wineries. Here is the vital data for Saturday:

Begin civil twilight 6:38 a.m.

Sunrise 7:06 a.m.
Sun transit 12:55 p.m.
Sunset 6:43 p.m.
End civil twilight 7:11 p.m.

It takes about 1/2 hour to get to Wagner's from my place. So maybe 6am is a little too early, but I think it would be good to get to a decent place by sunrise. Also note that since the hill slopes down to the West, sunrise may be a little later over there. My goal is to get good morning light on the vines.

Either way, since it sounds like a few people will be camping out at my place, we can meet there as it is on the way from Ithaca (especially given the road work happening on Rt. 96). Why don't we say meet at my place between 6-6:15?

And my car and apartment are also smoke-free.

Edit: formatting.

Sounds great.. PM your address?

Just wondering, have you heard from Brandi bs-photos, Jennifer ButterflySis, Rob robs, Nick nickp37, Stephanie atsxus?

I am sure Brent OdysseyF22 is following the thread, if not he will as it gets closer :)

PM sent.

Why doesn't everyone PM me with cell phone numbers in case there are any delays in the morning. I'll respond with my cell #.

ButterflySis said she would watch the thread and let me know. I'm hopeful that she'll be joining us. I haven't heard from anyone else.

I checked in earlier, and have been following since :-) I'm still coming, although I'll likely only be there one of the days, and I'm still trying to decide which one. I'll let ya'll know for sure as we get a bit closer.

Wow- It sounds like the groups is getting to a nice size. I think with this many people that there should deffinetly be a solid agenda. Just me 2 cents worth.

I agree. I'll be going with what's written in the original post unless anyone has other recommendations. We'll obviously have to be somewhat flexible to account for weather and to give people the shooting time they want in any given location.

Looks like I'll be able to meet up at Taughannock on Sunday. Do you plan on meeting up at the overlook up top or in the parking area off of 89?

Let's plan to start at the overlook, then head down to Rt. 89. Glad you can join us!

Hey Gary sent you a PM with my number. Just wondering if there was any floorspace left for me to crash there instead of driving back and forth? I have an air mattress that would work okay for me or if space is limited I have a sleeping mat and bag that I can use too.

Yep, got your PM -- sorry, I've just been a bit busy. Plenty of floorspace to crash on. The air mattress might come in handy if you can bring it.

I'll be sending out PMs within the next day or two with directions and phone numbers. The latest forecast looks a little iffy for Saturday (30% chance of showers), but I'm optimistic. Sunday still looks great.

Ends up I'm stuck in Binghamton with college stuff on Saturday, but I will be joining everyone for all of Sunday!

OK, I just sent PMs to everyone that I think is coming or has showed some interest. If you didn't get one, let me know.

The leaves are really starting to change now, so I think we'll have some good color this weekend.

I'm here. Thanks for the PM Gary. I'm unsure about Saturday. I'll probably join you and then leave early for Rochester. Sunday should be okay for me. I'll let you know by Friday. Do you still have my cell? If yours has not changed recently then I have the correct one.

I sent an email to the 'usuals' and a few others who have shown interest in the past. Will let you know if I hear from anyone.

FYI - Park at the County Building's parking lot across from the WG Park to avoid the fee.

sent my cell # to Gary, got the PM back that he got it. We are so excited! We arrive Friday night and stay through Sunday. The morning schedule looks great! Anyone else arriving friday?

Deb, will you be there Sunday? If so, we will finally get to meet! I haven't seen Linda in ages even though they live right around the corner. This will give me an excuse to call (don't say anything though, she'd say I don't need an excuse).
10/10/2007 09:06:13 PM · #73
Yes, Nick, I'll be there Sunday - it will be cool to meet a "distant cousin" ...cool how small the world is!

Ooh, it's that time of year again...:-) Well I can make the Saturday morning/early afternoon shoots, probably not Sunday.
