Tentatively scheduled for December. This is the lens I need... Anyone know anything about it? Will it really be released on time?
Anyone? Anyone? Benjikan? |

I did a search on the Pentax forum at DPReview and there is chatter but not much information on this lens at this time.

Pentax Lens Roadmap (updated this week)
The 60-250 likely wont be out for awhile, but who knows. In the meantime, Pentax has rebadged the Tamron 18-250, apparently for release by the end of the month.
Consumer grade superzooms aren't helping much in retaining people like me... but a new lens is a new lens, and that puts Pentax at 3 new lenses thusfar this year, which I suppose is a positive thing!
Also, see this recent DPC thread

| There are mock-ups under glass at Salon de la Photo in Paris of the DA* 200 2.8, 300 4.0 and 60-250 4.0. The guys at the Pentax booth say december... |

| Thanks andrew! I'll give them till december. Latest january. If I knew wat the price was now, I could decide whether to go ahead and get the canon. But i'd hate to jump the gun and find out its a reasonably priced lens. |

| no other options? What about the Sigma 50-150 f/2.8? 70-200 f/2.8? Isn't there anything else out there for Pentax? Give them time, I'm sure they will do you right. |

My best guesses as far as price goes are:
200 2.8: $700
300 4.0: $900
60-250 4.0: $800
I would expect them to be cheaper than their C and N counterparts, since they are APS-C lenses and therefore use less glass. Going off past Pentax lens releases, I would also expect the 200 and 300 to be excellent (as are all Pentax primes), and the 60-250 to be decent but nothing special. |

If the 200mm and 300mm are priced at the point you have listed I think I will be getting both. |

I just bit the bullet on the Tamron version of the 18-250 ... on sale for $449 at buydig.com. Been looking at that one for a while as a walkaround lens for traveling ... that and my 50/1.7 should make a nice compact travel kit. Thought about waiting to see if the price drops on the tamron once the pentax branded version comes out, but my itchy fingers got the better of me. ;>P
That oughta hold me over til the 200/2.8 comes out.
