That would be fun! I have previously owned a Mamiya RB67 Pro S medium format camera. Totally manual, no meter, however it was cool cause to go from a vertical to horizontal you just turned the film pack on the back of the camera..but yes, very heavy as well. (and I was always paranoid as to whether I manually loaded the film properly...and had to wait for the contact sheets)

I've got an old Graflex 4x5 field camera, along with quite a few medium formats (Rolleiflex - non-metered, Seagull range finder with a fold out lens, Yashica); I had great fun with them for a little while, but then went back to school -- after already having three degrees and working for nearly ten years :/and couldn't afford the film on a regular basis. Now they sit on a shelf in my office :( Makes me want to cry some days.

I have managed to find one company (failed) that was working on digital film, ie, that you could stick into any 35mm camera and get digital images. That would ruin the digital-only market (who wouldn't want to shoot with a Nikon F6, or even an F5 or F100 -- assuming you shoot Nikon, that is), so I'm not surprised that the firm went belly up. I am a bit surprised someone like Kodak hasn't taken it up, though. And think if they were willing to do it cost effectively for the old medium formats (in 120 format); how much fun would we all have?????

Anyway, I'm done dreaming -- for now, at least :)

Best all,

Rob

P.S. I know there are digital backs for the pro medium format cameras, and even for large format, but I'll never be able to afford one. Ever. Never ever *sigh*

I know what you mean Rob. I can only dream of an affordable 6x7 format digital back for an RB, a nice 50 or so MP, on a 6x7 size sensor...can you imagine how fine the grain/noise would be? wow. Makes me drool.

I have always had Nikon for non med format cameras, an FE to start, followed by 8008, F90X, then won a digital CP950, bought a CP5700, then D70S, and now D200. My first med format was a nice old twin lens Mamiya C330.

Mary, you've reminded me of my class developing black and white photos. Digital or no, I would still love to set something like that up (in the basement of my mansion, uh-huh...).

Here's a sure sign of suck: I've gotten two negative comments on my Free Study and I love them. They say exactly what I love about my photo. :)

This has happened to me, too, though for me what people dislike is simply a visually important part of the image for me (rather than something with meaning, etc.). Actually, quite a few of my seven comments are lukewarm or even negative. Weird for a shot now back in the 6.3 range.

Whatever. Nevermind. :)

Don, that is definately a good sign of suck. ;)

My Half entry has now received two comments saying basically why did I name it as I did....likely the same two that would have put DNMC if I did not spell it out!

Hey gang! I've returned home today from my second extended stay in the hospital in as many weeks. I had my second heart attack on my second day back at work (Friday, exactly 2 weeks to the day from the first one). This one was a "major" one, and I've been told I'll be out of work at least a month this time (and then only after numerous tests will I be able to return). This time it was a blood clot and it knocked me down, fast! I'm so lucky to have been so close to a hospital that specializes in heart care. The ambulance ride was only 5 minutes and I was taken right in to surgery from the ambulance. I'm so happy to be home!

Kelli glad to hear you are ok. I bet you are happy to be home, its always good to be home after a stay in the hospital. That ambulance ride may only have been 5 minutes but i bet ir seemed like a life time. You take care of yourself we miss you aroung here

Well.....I don't have a clue as to what the heck is going on in my life, but I stumbled onto a decent opportunity for a group portrait, so I gave it a shot......(Pun Intended!!!) I'm really happy with the result even though I don't think it'll score very well.

That's kinda weird, too, 'cause the other three I have going are all 5.5, 5.6, & 5.7. But I like them all okay, so I'm not terribly bugged by the mediocre scores. My average has been steadily creeping up over time, so I can't really complain.

What do you guys make of this views versus votes??????

That's the strangest damn thing I've seen in voting!

Oh.....I got a new lens! It's a Tamron 28-300. It's wicked good for a cheap lens and is my idea of the *perfect* walkaround lens.

Jeb congrats on the new lens. My friend has one like that and has let me use it and it is great. I think you will enjoy it.

geez, that's terrible, Kelli. Let's hope that now you'll stay out of the hospital for a good long while. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

My soft focus has a so-so but not bad score, and I'm content with that, but absolutely zero comments after this whole week. I'm hoping that some fellow TSers will help me out by providing feedback after rollover. :)

I have this feeling my technology image is going to get slammed.

Good luck all to those in the upcoming challenges.
Curious to see Team Suck's entries for S-Curve.

Wait no longer! Team Suck images are up in the Challenge Results Thread for all to see!

Luckily I got a break from food poisoning symptoms to get the results online. Maybe I should make a HTML interface to run these scripts.
