I can't even get bad attention! All I get are bad votes. This did start out a little above 6..

I have a sub-5 going in Free Study and it's not even artistic or risky. It apparently just sucks. :-)

7 comments so far but my score took a nose dive to 5.28...lol.

I now have two comments, but one is from Jeffrey and he's just trying desperately to redeem himself. My DPL teammates, whom I think are trying to get rid of me, encouraged me to enter the shot I entered. I have no idea what they were thinking. I suspect a sabotage conspiracy of some kind.

:-)

Shall I quote your pre-challenge comment on my shot, which is now sitting at 4.7? :P I'll race ya to both the Critical Mass AND Team Suck brown for this free study! My consolation is that Don's probably going to love it. Yours, too, actually.

Score is still falling...I think I will just go to bed....lol.
I liked it...so I figured the voters wouldn't!

This is closer to where I thought it would be, though still too high, so I expect a continued fall (though I'm hoping it levels off, obviously).

Best,

I have a pretty good idea where my "Half" entry is going to stay

No, it doesn't. It just doesn't work with the DPC size constraints. Some photos are like that - I've seen a couple others while voting in this month's FS. They'd be gorgeous full size but get lost at 640px.

average score in free study, but some great comments - of course, the most perceptive from suckers!

I hope I got to yours, Christian? If not, I will, as I signed on for the 100% FS commenting challenge. So far I've commented on 113 and voted on 112 (no vote on my Critical Mass teammate photos, but one has come up so far).

That's very ambitious, Catherine! I made the first 20% goal and will add more as I go, but won't get close to 100%.

And I still like my entry, but should have gone with the boats. I keep forgetting the simpler the better.... (And it's not blue and orange, either.)

Well Deb at least your's is in the 5's mines in the 4's and they want to validate it. I'm still trying to figure out why it sucks bad, maybe it's a new thing for the bottom pictures :)

I find it's an excellent exercise in helping develop my eye, and I also feel like I'm really giving each photo a real look instead of a once-over. Now if it only didn't take so damned much time...

I'm doing the comment challenge too and I feel like I am blabbering and making pointless comments lol. It has been good because I am forcing myself to comment on pictures that I would have just given a 5 to and moved on.

Teehee! Well put O Great Leader!

Back from vacation, time to pic up cam and go shoot something searching...will try to be a good li'l Sucker in the meantime and go vote/yap.

I is leaving mañana de la mañana for a week and the rest in Malta and visiting the UK etc. No doubt I'll be pretty absent from these parts.

Right now I have two challenges running at a combined score of less than ten. The technology entry that's all primed and ready to - erm - (don't tell homeland security, right?) tomorrow, should get the running total above ten, but XV is not on the agenda. Don't y'all worry about gravity now, I'll be propping up the pile :)

Raish, dear, I do believe I'm in love. Never fear, though, I'm perfectly harmless and I only fall in love from afar. Have a great vacation!

Where in the UK? You won't be anywhere near nowhere (that's east anglia for those not from these parts), will you? I'm in Norwich . . .

Enjoy your trip!

Best,

Rob

My Free Study is still hanging in the nasty 5.3 range. My Half entry is actually recoving, and is back to a 6.0.

If you think you suck now, sometime try a large format film camera without a light meter. It's a very humbling experience. Last weekend I was in a workshop using cameras that produce 8x10, 5x7, 4x5 and 5x17 negatives. And talk about heavy.

Lucky you, I'd like someday to try my hand at that - in a course, I mean, not $$$ bucks to go into that as a hobby too. :) Large format work is very demanding and precise, so I hear.
