I'm looking for ideas for a little half-day trip tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if I'll have time to get out much this fall, so I hoped taking the afternoon off I could find some good fall color and subjects (waterfalls, covered bridges, etc.) within a 60-90 minute ride of Albany. That means south-eastern Adirondacks or southern Vermont (at least to the north, assuming that's where the color is)

Anyone have a "personal" color experience report for those regions from this weekend? Any ideas?

Lake George would be easy (and an hour from here) but the online sites seem to suggest it's not near peak. Though I've been dying to shoot Shelving Rock Falls. We could then do Prospect mountain again, but not worth it if the colors not good.

If you took some photos near here this weekend of Foliage, then post them along with any ideas and information!

No answers, but I'll document some things I've found here.

This is probably too southerly, but I didn't know about it:

Have you ever tried //www.trekearth.com? Its a great photo site to see all around the world. You can search right down to the city. It could be helpful.

Thanks, that's very cool and helpful!

Here's another spot I found 2 hours north, near Lake Placid, that sounds good:

Beaver Meadows Falls
N44.12894, W73.81612

But it's a three mile hike in, so I may not have time in an afternoon trip.

Also might consider the High Falls Gorge. Anyone been there?
