I got a visit from one of my neighbors this morning. He came by to ask if I had lost a small pug. Seems yesterday morning a small black pug came through his cat door and made herself at home. He said his poor cats are afraid to come in the house with her there. I told him she wasn't mine, but since his cats are so afraid, bring her to me and I'll keep her while I try and locate her owner. So far, no one has posted an ad at the local grocery store - as most people do here. No ad in the paper. No micro chip or collar (had the vet check for a chip).
I called the only person I know of in our area with a black pug, but it isn't hers either.
She looks to be about a year old - and the vet thought the same. She is well cared for too. I can't imagine her owner(s) not looking for her. I'll be calling the animal shelters next to see if anyone has said they lost their pug.
Sweet little pug - Beanie has enjoyed having her here for a playmate so far. Napoleon thinks she MUST be a new girlfriend. lol
Oh - and she is an excellent photo model.

I daresay if no one claims it the best thing would be to have it destroyed by an injection or something.
If that proves too expensive stick it in a sack with some bricks for company and sling it in the nearest river.
kindest thing to do considering the circumstances. It's probably rabid.

You are in serious need of counseling! I hope you said this jokingly. Hopefully the nuts on the internet won't read your suggestions and take them serious, or worse yet carry them out on a dog they found.
I do have a healthy sense of humor - but do not find this funny.

My heart just went aflutter - what a gorgeous pup !
If only I lived close enough, I would offer up a perfectly good home for even temporary loving.
Simms - you seriously need help.

ROFL. Poor old simms. misunderstood in his time.
I actually had a fairly morbid idea of how it got to your neighborhood. i was thinking more along the lines of 'the incredible journey' or something where a family had a puppy and it just got too old for them... so a little trip into a neighboring city and... Poo break!...
...vroom!
Happens a lot around here. TW has boatloads of strays... mostly because the average person thinks "small is cute"... thankfully most of the girls are now getting miniature dogs that stay small... and they cost a bleeding FORTUNE, so they aren't likely to just send it out the door.

Sadly that happens here too. It is entirely possible that this poor pug was dumped since she has no collar or id, and no one has posted on the bulletin boards in town looking for her. In this small town, everyone posts just about everything on the grocery store bulletin board. I like to give the owners benefit of the doubt though and hope they did not dump her, but that she got loose and ran off. She's been well cared for, is housebroken, and well mannered. A near perfect pug. Her imperfections are what makes her easily identifiable and will make it easier for me to tell if the real owners come forward, or just someone who thinks they can get a free pug. |

'Emma' is now back with her owner. I went to EMS training night and mentioned to the other EMT's that I had a lost pug and if anyone knew of someone missing one to let me know. Well, luck has it that one of the EMT's was getting gas on the way to training and saw a lady posting flyers. When I got out of training, I went and checked the flyer and sure enough the photo of the pug matched the pug I had at my house. I called the lady and they came right over.
Seems she scooted through the door late Saturday night as the owner was going to work. Being a black pug and it being dark outside the owner didn't even see her get out. They had been searching the area for her ever since. The flyers didn't get up until tonight as they had to drive into town first and get some ink for their printer.
All's well that ends well.

Glad the owners and dog were reunited, and I appreciate the pictures, as I've not seen a black pug before! |
