The problem with eyes in PP is that the might look ok to the editor, but they tend to be way overdone and look quite unreal to the person who actually knows the subject.

I think you're better off trying lighting - it looks like his face is a bit shadowy anyway - some reflectors (I'd suggest less harsh than a mirror) may just do the trick. You can make a simple reflector pretty easily.

I've also never liked the harsh light provided by a small flash. If I were you, I'd take an umbrella or soft box outside to fill this. Of course, that's $$$. =)

Okay - I was asking how to get the photo right first hand, though I appreciate *most* of the pp attempts here as well.

I'll give a try with a reflector next time.
