I feel like such an idiot.

I went to Huntly (town near Aberdeen) to meet up with my cat's breeder and take photos of her kittens and cats. I had a fantastic weekend and took over 1500 photos of the kitties.

I then proceded to loose my bag on the trip home. I have a bad cold and the place was really crowded and I'd fallen asleep on the bus (there was a bus replacement service between Aberdeen and Dundee, I went by train the rest of the way back to Edinburgh)

The bag had my camera and worse, my external hard drive with both the archives of most of my photos and all the photos I'd taken over the weekend.

I have one memorycard but I had deleted the photos off it, I had copied around 200 photos (unprocessed and raw with a good numbers of duds in) onto the computer of the cat breeder so there are some pictures left but really unless I get increadibly lucky it's all gone.

I'm still phoning up lost property at the train and then bus company to try and see if my bag is around but I don't have high hopes.

It wasn't a paid gig and I have web sized versions of most of my photos backed up, the few really good photos I have taken (like my ribbon winer) I have full size backed up as well so it's not a complete disaster but still not a nice thing to have happen.

I had three processed photos left on the memory card. Here's one of them, an example of the sort of photos I'd been taking.

Sad to hear that. If I understood right, you have one card left? SanDisk has a very good software for rescuing at least the deleted photos on that memory card, RescuePro, it is sold with some cards ( I got it with an XD card).

I'm not a cat lover but I'd sure hate that to happen to me...

There are some honest people around so lets hope that it all will work out for you. *Cross fingers*

Wow thanks for that tip eyewave, I downloaded the demo version of the software and it's scanning through my card and finding photos.

Unfortunately it's just my little 125mb card but that's still around 70 photos I didn't have before (I shoot jpeg on the smaller cards).

There's still some hope, I have contacted the train companies since I was told to do that yesterday and they don't have my bag. However they said that usually the bus companies that do the bus replacement services for them handle the lost property they find themselves and don't bring it in to the train station so now I have to hunt down which bus company was doing the replacement service I was on and then find their lost property. There's still some hope although I'm in expect the worst, hope for the best mode.

Anyway just rescuing those few photos of the card makes a difference already.

Feel bad for you man, that must HURT. I had all my guitars stolen once while I was away so I know the feeling oh to well.

Good luck finding it.

I did the same thing in June - left my camera bag on the train, fortunately it was found further down the line. The South West (I was in London at the time!) train people were VERY helpful. I hope you have similar luck.
