I'm hoping the 80-400 goes at a price I can afford. I doubt it.
White gets real dirty when you have to get down a play LeRoy.

I thought the D300 and D3 were supposed to spur an exodus from the Canon camp...

They have to be available for purchase for that to happen. They're vaporware
right now except for the demo models.

I got to shoot with a friends D70s and 70-200 2.8 VR yesterday... The camera was a little clunky but did the job fine, but the lens? I think I'm in love!

That second guy already had a Canon setup for a good long time.

MAK is just weird and switches gear like no other.

Sorry, pet peeve here.

Any product that is "vaporware" is a speculated or hyped hardware/software/product.

Examples:

The months and months of iPhone hype and speculation before the product was announced.

The months of hype and speculation on Dean Kamens "life changing" invention that turned out to be the Segway.

The D3 and D300 are actual products, not vaporware. Vaporware denotes that they're just an idea/dream/speculation/wish. They are none of the above. They are actual, soon to be in customers hands, REAL products.

There is also marketware, wishware, displayware, teaseware... all of which shouldn't be confused with whatamigonaware.

True, but in the context of my comment, calling them "vaporware" is valid enough. People arent dropping their Canon gear in droves to move to the new Nikon stuff because at this point... there isnt new Nikon stuff! Its still months away, longer if you didnt preorder by now.

So when you said this you meant anytime soon as in, not in the next 2 weeks?

Authors notes: yes I'm poking fun this is not a mean post. Changing gears is a huge investment and not to be taken lightly.

Ahh, sorry... thats not how that sounded in my head. I meant it to sound like I was admitting that I am switching, I guess the true meaning was lost in translation.

But yes, I am switching, and it isnt something ive taken lightly. I love my camera, and if I had the cash I would never give up my Pentax.
