I have been going through some retouching tutorials, so please let me know what you think. Was the PP too heavy handed? Are the skin tones right? Is it too bright? (like it bright) etc, whatever you can say to help ;)
This is the shot, and yes I hate to have missed her ear ;)

Looks like some green light is coming from somewhere. |

Overall, I'd say you did a nice job. Her eyes are beautiful and her skin texture is good. There is a bit of a strange color cast as Nikolai pointed out, but I see more orange. Then again, my monitor isn't the best either. :) |

Thanks to both :)
I can see some green, I think, on her hair but then I look again and it is gone :P (if that makes sense) maybe the crappy monitor. |

yes, the color seems a bit off, but not terrible.
See where the outside of the eye meets her nose (i've always called it an eye pit), you can see a crease there - where bright skin meets dark skin. That line (crease, whatever, can be easily removed with either the healing brush and clone brush or even just by subtle blurring. Also, I can see more veins in the whites of her eyes ... simple to remove, but looks 100% better.
Also, since you've missed her ear, why not crop closer and remove her ear entirely, that way it doesn't look like an accident.
well done. |

I definitely see green in the hair and on the left side of her face too, but I think it could be something to do with curves in PP rather than lighting? Did you do something on the left/bottom of the red channel curve? Move it more to the right or something? I think it's shadows are showing as a greenish tint.

I like the shot, but agree with the colors. Were you using two different light sources? It looks like it's reddish orange on the right and greenish blue on the left. Almost like you were mixing lights with two different color temperatures. |

Thanks, I appreciate all the help.
It was around 10pm and the idea never was to take some portraits. My friend ask me to take some pics for some kind of project and at the end she decided she wanted to pose a bit ;) (ladies!)
As for the light, there was some lights in the room (tungsten, I guess) and that was mixed with an off-camera flash (not color corrected).
In this image I think the problem was me messing around with "correcting by the numbers" (curves in PS). But there was another pic (you can see it on the new left bar when you click on this thread's image) in which her skin got several different color patches from orange-ish to greenish, that was definitely the different light available.
Too many words! well tnx ;) |
