I wonder if anyone has experienced the same problem as I have:
I'm using PS CS3 on my iMac and the problem I have is that if I leave the mac while CS3 is running and the screensaver kicks in. All I have when I come back is an error message saying that the application closed unexpectedly and that I can leave some feedback for Adobe.
This is quite annoying I might have been working on something for a long time and everything is lost when this happens. I could of course save my work before leaving the mac (and I try to remember) but sometimes I do forget anyway.
I've submitte feedback to Adobe through the feedback screen (done this at least 25 times but never had a response from them).
I haven't experienced this with any other applications.
Has anyone experienced something similar...? |

I have had CS2 close for no reason a couple of times, only lost my work once because of it but it was 2 hours worth. I have no idea what caused it. But in your case I would just turn off the screen saver and find out if that is indeed the cause.

do not run screensavers... there is nothing that important that you need to stay away from your computer long enough for it to get screen burn.
:) or just turn off the monitor/screen as needed.
Sounds like a major bummer. I've also submitted a question to Adobe on another issue and am waiting for a response. Maybe go to their website and open a case rather than simply using their 'feedback' option. This will at the very least indicate higher priority to you. |

I wouldn't even worry about burn in your monitor, 15 years ago that was an issue but since then Monitors have gotten much better at resisting the burn. The LCD screen I am using here is left on most of the time because it is on the machine that runs our home network. I never use screensavers and there is no burn in on the monitor at all.
Screen Savers can lull your computer into stupidity. Other than the pretty colors they are useless.
ETA If you want good service from Adobe. Call them. have your activation code #s etc ready. They are very good customer service on the phone.

| I haven't experienced that situation exactly, although I don't have CS2 or 3. I've had the unfortunate experience of PSE4 and PS7 both on occasion closing when I try to save my work. Whether it's CTRL + S, File>Save, or File>Save As. It hasn't happened with File>Save for Web... yet. It also doesn't seem to matter if it's the first time saving, or the fifth. It's just 'blink', gone. |

Thanks for all your replies - seems like the problem isn't very common...
I could of course (as some of you suggest) just turn of the screen saver. But, I should have bben more prcise - it's acturally because the Mac goes into power save mode - it turns of the screen completely. I could turn of that too you might say - and you are right. But I do try to care about our environment and I would feel bad about consuming power when I don't have to.
I think I'll try to contact Adobe through their website and see if I get any response there - and try to remember to save all the time... |

I wonder if the iMac shuts down the internet when it goes into powersave. I bet it does. CS3 may have new features that cause it to shut down if it doesn't have internet access, when it was accustomed to having it. Just a speculation. As others stated I'd just email or call Adobe and get them to help solve the problem. As much as they charge for the software they should certainly help solve any problems you have. (Yes, I live in dream land)

| My CS3 closes as well. As soon as my computer sleeps photoshop quits, I just save a bunch. |

Mine just slows down to a crawl, but that's only if I leave it overnight, or for a long period of time while using another memory intensive app. I'm on winXP.

I just set my screen saver to 1 min. so I could see it happen. CS3 still work fine when the monitor came back on. I use winXP. This must be one of those Mac issues that supposedly don't exist ;-P
