can anyone problem solve for me.... I select a new layer ( layer-new-layer) then in 'mode' i select overlay, and check 'fill with overlay 50%' i then pick a color, grab a brush, but when i go to paint on the layer i get nothing. I am able to dodge and burn doing the same procedure, but not color...so i must be doing something wrong. Any ideas?

Where is Bear when u need him!

Wrong blend mode. Choose 'Color' instead and for best results...use a blank layer and use one colour per layer.

NOPE... I tried it again switching the mode to color. Still didn't work. I do get a message saying somethng regarded "50% of pix. not being selectd... but im dont believe i need to make a selection.

Frustrating... any other thoughts?

Sounds like maybe you're not using the brush tool.

no... I am using the brush tool, and i think i have it working... my only other question is that i thought this process would make it so i dont have to worry about "staying w/in the lines".... at least thats what the learning thread by bear mentioned.

Unless I am supposed to make selections?
