I don't have a car. But I must say the place is growing on me, now that it's getting cooler. Nifty critters, too - met up with a desert mouse/rat this evening going for the fruit I had left over from lunch that got all mushy at my desk. I think from now on I'll leave him/her a snack.... Bats are getting fewer in number, though. Where do they go? |

You mean right NOW the bats are disappearing for the day/night? Or each week you see fewer bats?

She's on active duty with the military; she doesn't have that option.

I've got the same number of bats in my belfry as ever, if that's any help.

Fewer bats in the mornings. More birds, it seems, but fewer bats. They're a blast to watch. Every once in awhile one will brazenly fly close enough to hear the wings. As long as they don't bite, I don't mind. Can't photograph them, though, soft focus or not (see how I brought it back to the thread subject?) because it's too dark when they're out and they move entirely too fast!

I was thinking the same thing, then remembered I have to go to Houston Sunday and Monday - which would otherwise be prime shooting days. Oh well. |
Can't shot in Houston? I do it all the time! ;-)

When I lived in Carmel we had bat-shows from our terrace every night in spring and summer. In the fall they started tapering off, in the winter they didn't come out, in the spring they came back. These particular bats hibernated; not all species do. Perhaps yours hibernate for the winter?

It's possible. And while it is getting cooler, I will say that if they're getting ready to hibernate, their idea of "winter" and mine differ significantly! :-) |

LOL - I just meant that now that it's nice and misty here, I have to go away. I'll be spending as much time on a plane (or in an airport) as in Houston, and since it's for an interview for a job that has absolutely nothing to do w/ photography (not even artsy), I'd have to leave the camera in the hotel room. Those corporate types can be kinda paranoid when a camera shows up, lol. So al in all, I'd rather leave the camera safely at home. |

If you need a recommendation on a resturant or shopping or places to see, let me know. Houston a lot of options! |

Thanks. They've already picked the restaurant - the Guadalajara Mexican Grill (which sounds good from what I read online). I asked for steak or southwestern or BBQ. It is TX after all, lol.
And it's really a quick trip. I fly out Sunday, have dinner, then Monday have the interview (all day - they pick me up at 7:45 and I go directly to the airport after) and fly back that evening. When/if I get the job, I'll be out for an apt hunting trip, and may need your advice then. |

I tried playing with the idea today but it was either narrow DOF with bokeh, or blur. Hmmmm
Back to the drawing board. |

Is 'motion blur' acceptable if applied to entire image under Basic? |

It's not even legal under Advanced unless it's used to accentuate existing motion blur, rather than introduce the sense of motion into a static image.
Only Blur/Gaussian Blur are legal in Basic. |
