Anyone having any issues?
I am.
When shutting down it sometimes hangs up and doesn't want to close.
nlk Color FX Pro filters crash it all together.
Anyone have any suggestions?

| I haven't had any problems at all. Hasn't crashed or hung up once. Running a 2.4ghz Intel duocore with 3+gb of RAM, though. |

Now and then mine doesn't want to open right or hangs while I'm using it. I have to close it and re-launch it, then it's okay. I messed with compatibility settings, and finally decided it was best without any.
My main problem comes from Bridge, which hates certain other programs, and acts really stupid if I try to use both at once. Photomatix is the worst, Bridge just stops functioning and I have to use one, or the other, at a time.

I spent 7 months running Photoshop and Lightroom on top of Vista without any problems (well, other than having to run in Admin mode). But when my desktop computer crashed, I replaced it with a new Laptop computer from PC Laptops with Windows Vista on it. I couldn't get either CS3 nor Lightroom to run on the darn thing. Took it back to PC Laptops and told them to "make it work" or I was giving them back their laptop. Then ended up installing Windows XP on the laptop and I'm fine with that! Vista was kinda cool ... but not really worth the headaches it created.

XP might certainly be an option. I do like Vista, but certainly not in love with it.

Have you tried turning UAC off?

I've read that if you configure CS3 to the XP service pack 2 compatibility mode, it'll solve some of the slowness/hanging problems. I can't verify since I'm not having problems but it might be worth a shot.
Right click on the PS icon, properties, compatibility mode, checkmark the box to run it in compatibility mode with XP SP2. |

I've tried the Win XP SE mode and Admin mode, both exclusively and apart.
Photoshop CS3 will usually close normally if I've been using it for a while, but if I open it for a quick edit and then close it, it usually hangs.
nlk Color FX Pro crashes CS3 period, no exceptions.

| I had a similar problem with PSE and Vista. It would hang every time I clicked on a picture in the organizer. I went in and uninstalled all the crapware (the software that you didn't ask for, that came preinstalled on the computer, and runs in the background doing useless things). Everything worked fine after that. |

| Running an identical machine to what I was using CS3 on with XP. With Vista, filters take ages to render, files take longer to load, every complicated operation might crash the whole thing. Ai crashes every second time. I'm back to XP pretty soon. |

I formatted the hard drive and did a fresh install.
CS3 is fixed, although the nlk filters still won't run. The computer is a ton more responsive and smooth. It seems everytime I buy a computer, I end up having to do this. I idon't even know why they bother installing the OS :-) |

That's why I buy hardware only. |
