I just got done entering a photo for the Soft Focus challenge, then accidently wrote over the original with the edited one. Is there a way to restore it to the original? Yikes!!

Do you still have it on your camera? If you've already erased it from the memory on your camera, chances are, it can still be recovered there. There have been many threads here on DPC regarding image recovery and various recommendations on software to use.

It was on a memory card, not the actual camera itself. I did read some of the threads on file recovery, but I didnt delete the picture completly, just wrote over the original with the edited version, on the memory card (so when I open it on the memory card, it open the edited version). Does photo recovery programs work for this purpose as well?

Ouch... you saved the editing version to the memory card? That complicates things a bit as it probably simply overwrote the data, leaving no trace of the original behind.

Yeah =( That makes me really sad... I normally just save as, rename it, and close the program leaving me with both the original and the edited version. But I was reading about saving your pictures for web, instead of just saving them normally, and I wasn't thinking, and anyway, I will just go cry now...

Edited to say thank you for your help =)

That's why you transfer everything from the card to your computer first. Then if this happens you still have a copy on the card.

Live and learn. You probably won't do that again. ;o)
