| The web site "Bestpricecameras.com" has the 40D listed for $799, a great price. Has anybody dealt with this outfit before? |

a common term is bait and switch, where they offer extremely low
prices, then when you buy them, they send you additional unnecessary
crap, at unnecessarily ridiculous prices, such as a 1 gb 20x cf card
for like $400 bucks, there are some jerkfaces out there, glad you asked
before you bought,

They pull all kinds of crap. They'll call you a day later and tell you the 40D you ordered doesn't come with ANYTHING. Then they will "kindly" add in the charger, battery, lens cap, strap, manual, and original box for only $700 more.
Run away. Far away. And don't look back!
Stick to the reputable power-houses of photography: bh, beach, adorama, keh, etc. |
