I am interested in different backgrounds, for example a background with a city on it or a background with mountains on it. If I wanted to do a mermaid shoot, where can I get a ocean background???

One Background company

I typed in photographic scene backgrounds and got many hits, including this one....

I have never bought any but like idnic says, google it - just use enough words in the search to limit the hits

Don't know where you can get physical backgrounds, but one idea is to use a projected background. Physical backgrounds are static, so if you ever use them again, they are obviously the same one you used before. It's fine for bland colours and stuff, but image backgrounds are rare for this reason.

The solution is to use a projected background. You can use any landscape image from your folio, and just project it onto a white background with an LCD projector. You do have to be more careful about your main lights not getting onto the background and washing it out though.
