It's been ages since any shots of mine got faved, so this makes me pretty damn happy. |
Congrats! I bet it's a man. *grin* |
Funny you should say that - yes it is! lol
Must've been the awesome post-processing advice that made the difference though :D |

Is there anything that we at Team Suck could collect and mail to you to make your life a tad better? Now that you've been there a little while?
Originally posted by Melethia: It's interesting that everyone here says "Stay safe". In reality, the best you can do is stay the hell out of the way of the large vehicles that roll through here. They could really ruin your day. The other thing is to make sure you drink enough water, though it's cooling off very nicely here. Only low 100s this afternoon, and I believe it may have been below 80 this morning.
There's not a darn thing you can do about the things that go "boom". Had one this morning that made me jump and left the floor of the trailer vibrating with the aftershock. But there's nothing to do about it, so you just go about your business. As someone pointed out, if you hear them, you're fine. :-) |

Shez, it's just a personal preference, but I like your color shots better than the b&w and duotone shots you posted above. |

Very kind of you to ask, but really I can't think of anything. We have the basics available most of the time (depending on when trucks get in) and there's not a lot else we need since the day is pretty much consumed by working, eating, and attempting to sleep. My mom has kept me supplied in books; I've managed to read two so far. Mostly everyone would just like to go home, I think. :-)
Shez, I'll try to get to some of your shots a bit later on today. |

Meh, I'm bored. As far as I can tell (not that you can really be objective about such things), my photos have slowly been getting technically better, I've learnt a decent amount about the theory behind photography, etc. But it's been months since I submitted anything genuinely exciting...
Maybe as a little game for the next couple of weeks or so, I'll try and forget all about correct exposure and rules of composition, and try and get carried away with ideas instead.
When you shoot a portrait, can you capture that person inside the shot?
Does your landscape have the power to take someone's breath away?
What do you see in the light and shadow dancing in the smoke, or in the clouds swept by the wind? What moves you? Is it light, or darkness you're in love with?
Any inspiration would be more than welcome :) |

I had my very first photography class yesterday, and given the reaction to my Candy shot I really needed it. The class was about using light and shadow with a nude model, using ambient light. I might enter one in the free study, so no previews here quite yet.
Did basssman pick a team yet? |

I have an entry in Silhouette. I love it. I sure hope it doesn't get beat up too badly. And I took it with my new camera. They better not tell me there's too much noise. |

No. I am capturing a way of seeing that person.

Yes, if I could only get someone to see it.

My sweet Candy entry was just one shot above the brown ribbon, a seemingly familiar area for me. Congrats to sherpet for the top score this time!
I put basssman7 into Team Zombie until I hear where he'd rather be. |

Julianne - new camera? Congrats! When did that happen?
Shez, congrats on being Queen of TS this week!
Sadly, though I do have some potential shots for Silhouette, I may not enter anything. I've not got anything in now, either. I think I shall just let my lovely 4.8 score from Impressionism remain at the top of the list, yes? |

My husband bought it for me last week. He said he wanted to make a contribution to the effort. What a guy!! That's why we've been married for over 40 years. Well, it's one of the reasons.
BTW, is anyone else in the Deja Vu challenge? There aren't very many entries.

Congrats and have fun! Welcome to the world of shallow DOF. :)
Yes, I'm in Deja Vu. Off to a good start, and I'm amazed at the quality of the 40% I've voted on so far.

I'm in Deja Vu - we might even make the top hundred in that one. I've got a new camera too - had a steady run of 4's ever since :) |

Team Suck had the best candy shots, imho.
I am in Deja Vu, with exactly a 5.5, but a very satisfying photo. :) |

I have an entry in Silhouette that I really like.
I wanted to put this in:{redacted] but my wife talked me out of it.
Curious to see what you guys think about it. I think it's just weird/cool enough that it would have done okay.
I'm afraid that my entry isn't DPC-Friendly enough, but it's very emotive for me on a number of different levels.
