...seemed coherent enough to me, and I did not share your view that he has a deep and abiding hatred... and minor dislike perhaps, but certainly not to the degree you seem to suggest.

If you were just trying compensate for a lens that wasn't wide enough and needed to include everything you captured then the tilt works. Beyond that it does little else, IMO. It's not balanced well and just doesn't read well if you know what I mean.



This is the predominant shape your composition produced. My eye goes towards the tip of that triangle and then traverses backwards to read the rest of the image. It's not a pleasant way to read an image. Maybe flipping it might help a little. Anyway, just my opinion.

I've heard long debates over whether tilt-hatred is due to nature or nurture. I had a look through Mike's portfolio and many great shots. Not one of them is tilted!

That's got a slant to it, not a tilt. There IS a difference you know. Slant just seems to have more class to it, a bit more subtle to the eye.
