We've had a bit of work on lately with our studio, including a few weddings over the past 4 or 5 weeks which has had the old photoshop through a good workout. I just thought I'd share these few shots which I quite liked.

You guys rock, Neil! Your work improved dramatically a couple of years ago and has been consistently nice since. :)

Don't you & Bec have studio space now too? I'd love to see a shot or two.

Cheers Cindi! Also, you'll find plenty of studio shots in our ports! :)

Thanks Judi! I think we pulled out some nice shots! Considering we didn't actually get to meet the bride and groom until they walked down the aisle! It was all organised through the parents! :)

I'm definitely no expert on wedding pics, but I think you did a great job on these, mate! Nice work!

I used to get that a lot ...

I used to sell my wedding services ala carte. They paid only for what they wanted and everything was separate (engagements, bridals, wedding, reception, pictures). I figured ... if I was going to pay for a wedding, that's what I would want. So I didn't offer any "packages".

But I ended up doing almost NO engagements and very few bridals that way because ... well, everyone has an Uncle Joe with a camera who will shoot the engagement pictures for them, and if they are trying to save money, then the bridals were quickly dismissed as well. That left me with none of the "fun" shots before the wedding while keeping all of the "stress" that goes with the wedding itself.

But I *really* wanted to do engagements because that would give me the opportunity to meet the couple first. And I love shooting bridals. So that's what got me to start selling my services as packages.

I make a point of telling them that the engagement session is FREE. And so even when they tell me they have an Uncle Joe who has already shot the engagement pictures ... I tell them *again* the engagement session truly IS free. I *insist* that they don't even have to buy any of the engagement pictures. I just want the opportunity of spending time with them for a couple of hours talking and shooting.

Since I've started doing this ... I've never yet had anyone turn me down. AND, interestingly enough, even when Uncle Joe *has* already taken the pictures, they still use mine. ;-)

And selling packages has meant that I'm also shooting bridals (or formals) with every wedding package now too. So packages have been a great thing for me. I get to do more of what I love to do.

This may or may not solve the problem for you (you may already be using packages), I just thought I'd share how I managed to change things so that I would get to "meet the couple" before the wedding.

Great information there David. Thanks for sharing those experiences. I've never included engagement shots at all in our packages but perhaps it's something we should look into.

Here's a couple more to share from another wedding last weekend that I've been fiddling with.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys!

And yes Laura, there's 10 bridemaids here plus the groom's daughter (in the white dress) who was part of the bridal party too! Biggest damn wedding I've ever seen, let alone taken photos of! But, they were great fun! :)
