By chance a few weeks ago, did some candid shots of a musician at a local street festival and sent her the 3 shots I did in Triptych form, and based on the numerous raves from her website feedback, she asked if I could do something for her upcoming 2 CDs.

Well that day came yesterday. What a blast! Fun to get out of the box on some, borrowing a chair, placing her in the middle of the flower planter in Balboa Park entrance and also in the large water fountain, "borrowing" people's steps, side of restaurants, etc.
I've only done a brief look through the 392 shots from the day, "un-rawed" many, and edited a few, most all with little if any editing done, (yay on trying harder to get it right in the camera first) with the most extreme editing being adding a soft filter on a few.

Just a random, chronological sample of some of my favorites from yesterday, with more in the folder.

The fun reaction was at the end of the long day, telling her my secret - it was my first photoshoot as such.
:)

Very impressive! - And even more so for your first photoshoot. Some really nice shots there, and you've got a great variety of settings and poses.

No wonder she's pleased.

Great job, as usual.

These work great. Normally Im against guitars in non guitar settings, but that only applies to electric guitars. I like the fountain one best I think. Its fun.

Oh - and there was a redhead involved too.
Nearly thought the Canon's special antenna was broken.
Bad camera...bad camera...

Most of the shots were done with the Tamron 28-75mm, with a mix of 50mm & 70-300mm used.

Thanks all!

YouTube slide show

If you want your 3 minutes back after you watch it, file a claim, but I'll bury you in paperwork.
*grin*

ETA:
Changed link from the 30MB download to YouTube.

I dunno... I can't even download more than about 10 seconds of the song. We must be burying your server! What I saw of it looks good.. I love her smile! :-)

MY BAD!!!!!

It wasn't just your slide show, I was wondering why DPC was seeming to be slow... smugbrowser had 33 SIMULTANEOUS uploads going on!!! I had started a batch of files uploading this morning before a wedding and had thought that they were done. Apparently not! Smugbrowser usually has quite a few simultaneous uploads going on, but I've never seen that many before!

Anyway... love the slide show. It really shows her personality. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks!
That one still links to the download, though I already changed the
image link and edited my post above. Here is the correct link:

(same image, just the correct YouTube link)

When I get some of her music, I'll make another.

I left some comments on several of them as well. Most are pretty good, but other than maybe #3423, I don't think you have the right images for a CD cover. They just don't jump out at me as what I'd expect to see on a CD. You have a couple that might have been good candidates but cropping, angle or distance affected them. But then, it all depends on what she is looking for in a CD cover and she might find them all a good choice, which is what it is all about anyway, satisfying the customer.

She has a great smile and looks like a real blast to work with. Congratulations.

Thanks Mike,

Most of them were not cropped and were basically as seen out of raw conversion. As time permits, I am going back into the shots with some editing and slowly re-uploading over the others. The folder is being used as a place to get them all together for right now. I kind of agree now that I look at #3423, and a little cropped off the bottom would make a big difference. Regarding CD covers, well, at this point is mainly about getting material to work with and she thinks she wants a composite, something along the lines of this quick dabble:

We have another day of shooting tomorrow with a twist though: She's trying to get use of an old theater for a couple hours, and will be bringing many instruments, props, wardrobe changes, etc in order to do a full-on composite with her being all the band members, wearing outfits that stereotype each instrument. A lounge dress for the singer, a rocker shirt for the drummer, etc

Should be fun anyway.

Brad,

You should put in your link to the you tube video on the You Tube Thread

It would be great to increase the views.

I love the photots and her song. Very nice. I even signed up for you tube so that I could favorite it and leave a comment.

Thank you for sharing.

I think a composite might work really well, Brad. That way you can pick and choose some of the best of several images. Being able to shoot in an old theater sounds like fun.

The one example looks like a good idea too with the guitar in the background like that.
